This is the question my work husband's little girl was assigned in Sunday School last week. On Father's Day, fittingly enough, the teacher asked to talk to him about her answer. It was, "...do lots of weird things." Apparently, at seven, she thinks things like a guy surviving being swallowed by a fish and the sea parting are weird. My friend is committed to Christianity, but he couldn't help laughing.
What do you think of her answer?
And what would your answer be?

Work husband = close male work friend who's always expecting me to feed him. Chaste, but we talk a *lot*. That just slipped out--we all have a "work spouse" at my work.

Chuckling @ work husband!
And that's a great response by the little girl.
Lilo, my favorite kid comment about God - one year at Christmas we were driving around our neighborhood looking at holiday decorations with my in-laws. Amidst the high wattage displays of flashing color were a few somber creche's. My very Catholic mom-in-law kept pointing them out to my 4 year old saying, "Look, there's the baby Jesus".
After the third one or so, daughter scrunched up her face and declared, "Jesus isn't very Christmassy"
We all got a big LOL

I think that is a cute answer. Through the mouths of babes is how the saying goes and to children they say it as they see it. I think the teacher needs to get a life. Seriously there is nothing wrong with that answer... what was the teacher expecting to be more like god I'll create a universe and all the creatures on it... some people need to laugh a little. I'm sorry by my own personal answer might have been something like to be more like god I will control everything and know all ... I mean it humorously cause well I'm not a serious person.

The little girl gave an excellent answer. To the world, Christians are weird. God said He was making for Himself a peculiar people. Certainly Christ was thought to be weird. Also the disciples and Apostle Paul and most Christians. God said, I am that I am and God said I am God and their is none like Me. What a perfect answer for a little girl!

I don't think there's anything wrong with her answer. To a child, God is a strange being that they cannot truly understand yet. They desire to sometimes, but sometimes, many of them, simply claim him as strange. When I was younger, I was positive about some things that I know now are simply not true about God. They were things that I just didn't understand yet. My answer would be to love. God is love. To be more like God, I believe I will strive with a greater passion to love all around me regardless of belief.

I suppose the Sunday School teachers considers such events to be normal.
It sounds like the little kid has a far better grip on reality than the adults around her do.

To be more like God, I will....
"Grow a beard and wear white dresses" - that's what I would have said when I was that age (sounds an awful lot like Gandalf, doesn't it?) ... Blame Monty Python.
At the age I am now, I would have to first say;
"figure out which of the Gods I worship I want to be more like."
then;
"have to learn how to be humble."

GREAT ANSWER FROM HER POINT OF VIEW.
Show the shallow level of the teaching in Sunday school.
When will people learn that if you treat kids like little adults, they will grow up to be adult one day.

Hopefully she will come to a deeper understanding as she continues to learn.
My answer would be to witness to others more. God loves people and doesn't want any to be lost. The most loving thing I can do is help someone to place their trust in Christ.
