What is swearing on book going to do. I am more partial to Harry Potter than the bible should i swear to harry potter instead

ahh sorry I'm amused by this cause even people who believe in god will swear on the bible and lie anyways. The trick is you swear a oath regardless of what it is on or who it is too and if you lie it is a federal offence and punishable with jail time. So do you want to lie anyways?

Swearing on a Bible is a legal formality that supposedly ensures the honesty of a witness. Obviously, it doesn't always work.

Ever heard of perjury? I don't think you'll have to put your hand on a Bible anymore -- you'll have to hold up your right hand, give your word and sit down. Then again, dude... it's just a book.

Dishonesty in the courtroom is a bad idea, even on my home world...next time say "I promise to tell the truth, so help me Darth Tater"....you won't be on the stand long...I promise! LMAO!!!!
