I know it sounds weird, but my cat likes it. He likes it when you smack him on the butt. He'll start purring and cooing and he'll start rolling around on the floor. Is this normal? It's almost like its a "cheap thrill" for him.

Someone asked why I would spank my cat in the first place.
It's not really "spanking", but I didn't know what else to call it. He just likes it when you pat his butt and its not hard enough to hurt him... I'm not sure how it got started though. LOL!

I've noticed with female cats, that if I pat them on the top of their back leg they will roll over and expose their belly. I've heard that it's a mating behaviour response, but that doesn't explain why male cats react the same way.

I wouldn't worry about your cat enjoying being spanked - he's not alone. Check out this clip below. It makes me smile every time I watch it, and the cat seems really happy.

We have a cat we actually named "Spanky" because he enjoys being spanked like this. He will also hide in boxes and wait for you to hit the box with a stick. I have 9 cats and each one has a different "cheap thrill".

If she isn't spayed, she is in warmth, and you will desire to make an appointment to have her spayed. If she is spayed, she would desire to easily be reacting to nerve endings interior the "rear" of the backbone, as maximum cats do. an incredible sort of cats desire to be petted or scratched on the rear of the backbone and would react to it with vocalizing, or perhaps a "unusual" (i does no longer say disgusting) expression. some cats may even nip at you once you scratch or "spank" this section.

My cat seems to dig it, too. When I pat him on his back, right at the base of the tail, he does what I call his "Ray Charles impression." He kind of waves his head back & forth & talks to me.

Honestly, it (his reaction) doesn't seem entirely voluntary. I wonder if I'm not stimulating a nerve that just spazzes him.

I think it's of a sexual nature, and it wierds me out, so i flip my cat upside down and tickle his belly instead, he likes that fine, and i dont feel like "chester"

Lol, thats weird! He must have had some childhod experience that somehow convinced him that a slap on the rear is "fun".

Maybe he/she has overactive anal sacs that might need to be drained? This is sometimes why they drag their bums across the carpet...

the actual reason for this is because cats cannot lick their back very well.. they cannot clean this area.. therefore, when u pet them there, they like it because they cannot get to this area themsleves.... especially if they are too fat... then they cannot get to this area...
