Well, it depends upon why you're doing it. Just because your dad smokes pot doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a house. Just because they don't save money doesn't mean they don't deserve a house. Is buying them a house something that would be good for them? Are you doing it because you want to or out of a sense of obligation? If they are laying a guilt trip on you and saying you owe them this then I would tell them to f**k off and buy their own house(not in so many words though). You don't owe them anything for them doing their JOBS as parents. But if this is something you want to do from your heart then that could be a great thing. So I think the spirit of this action is what's important.

No, you should NOT buy your dead beat parents a house... do they plan on living on the streets when they're in their 70s 80s? someone will have to put them in a home when their old... like a nursing home... they are not cheap.

that depends on if you feel your dad and stepmom deserve a house...I mean If it were my dad smoking pot and going thru money and not saving...i wouldnt but that is just me.

Nope, why would you do that for someone who hasn't taken care of their responsiblities? Do they respect the things they have now? If not, then they won't appreciate or respect the house you buy them. They're grown ups, let them take care of themselves.
