It is not rude. You answer your door only if you want to answer your door.

I don't think it is rude at all. It is just you being safe. If you have a peep hole on your door, I would use it to your advantage. My hubby and I lived on a 3rd floor apartment when we first got married and he worked 2nd shift so I was home by myself all the time, and i didn't open the door for anyone but him. If it was a person claiming to be maintenance i would call the manager and ask if she had sent someone to the apartment. No, I don't think you are being rude at all. Keep safe!

It's not rude of you. What is rude is people coming without calling in advance. Friends should have your phone number. Strangers (salespeople), you have no obligation to answer to them at all.
I sometimes have my main door open with just the screen door. Salesmen can see me in the house, I just ignore them. One time I had a guy saying (through the open door) that he really needed help. I told him I'd call 9-1-1 for him. He said no and left. Guess he didn't really need help that bad.

that is not impolite precisely, in spite of the undeniable fact that that's opposite to what's familiar and time-honored on your loved ones. So be arranged to take some "flak" no count how lots you're interior of your rights. That reported, you're able to start off training those human beings. Warn them in simple terms before time which you and your lady are making plans a quiet weekend and heavily isn't welcoming visitors. Get a pencil and paper "message center" type thingy to hold close on your door with the assertion "you have come at a bad time. Please pass away a message." whilst it includes the telephone, first ask them gently no longer make the two-in-a-row calls except there is particularly an emergency. in the event that they do no longer appreciate your request, warn them that heavily isn't answering ANY of their calls except they learn how to pass away a message and wait patiently so you might call back at a time this is handy to YOU. carry on with your weapons in this and after some weeks (months? years?) of stressful thoughts, at last even pushy, insistant human beings will could settle for that the in the event that they desire to pass into your domicile and talk to you on the telephone, they're going to could achieve this on your words -- no longer theirs.

It's your house, you don't have to answer the phone or the door if you don't want to. I think it's rude of people to just drop in unannounced. If someone is knocking on your door claiming "emergency!" call 9-1-1 for them. Otherwise just ignore them. It's your right.

My sister lives in a beautiful and affluent neighborhood and when she is alone she does not answer the door unless she is expecting someone. It is always someone with some scam idea or a solicitor. I don't blame her; I just call before dropping by.

It is not rude. I like a peephole then I can ignore the person, or if I am interested I can ask "Who is it?" Anyone who won't answer is rude. Who knocks on a back door now-days anyway?

No it is not rude. People who are planning to come over who you dont know would usually call first. Just ignore them. Mabey your can take a peek at who it is nd if it's someone you know answer. If it someone who is advertising or is selling something, ignore them. If =they see you, open the door and quickyly say "Im busy" or "Im eating" and close the door.

No, it is not rude of you. It is keeping you safe.
I'd rather read about this - not answering a door - than what happened tragically after you answered the door to a really bad person.

Rude or not if I am not expecting anyone I don't answer either. I will sometimes ask who it is but mostly I ignore it. If it was a friend or fam they'd call ahead of time. Better safe than sorry.
