Accident's happen. It's ok. She'll most likely be fine. It takes a lot of chocolate to make a dog really sick to the point that it's fatal. Keep an eye on her. She'll probably have the runs for a couple days but that's about all. If she starts acting weak or unlike herself she needs to be taken to the vet. But don't worry. I'm sure that she'll be just fine. Give her some hugs and kisses and relax.

Circle of life: Hmmmmm, I've never heard that one before. A dog doesn't have a pancreas?? Yes they do. The reason why a dog can't have chocolate is because they can't metabolize it. Their metabolizm is really really slow. Therefore it can become toxic to their system. Chocolate also toxic to humans if we eat huge loads of it. It's the same for dogs and cats. Dogs and cats have pancreas's just like people do.

How much cake did your dog eat? What size dog do you have?

A full grown Rottweiler could be safe with a small piece whereas a Yorkie who ate the same amount could be in real trouble.

Since you've mentioned that it's a puppy, you are much better off taking the dog to the vet so they can induce vomiting.

Okay. Well, it dpeends on large your dog is.

If she ate more than 1 ounce per 9lbs of the dog's weight, she could get very sick.

Also, it depends on the individual dog's systems. Some dog's have been more resistant to chocolate than others.

I would at least CALL the vet. Since it was jsut crumbs, she will most likely be fine.. But still, at least call your vet and see what he says.

Nothing serious is going to happen to her. It is not enough chocolate to poison her.
She may have an upset tummy, but that's about it. As a chocolate cake maker, I can tell you she would have to eat the whole cake to poison her.

Call your vet if it will help ease your mind.

I would take her to the vet just in case. If she is acting lazy and she is just lying everywhere, then rush her to the vet. If she looks fine, she might be ok, but she might have to get her stomache pumped. I have a friend whos dog ate like almost a a whole chocolate birthday cake while she was in the other room, and her dog didnt act any differently, but when she took her to the vet her stomach was about to rupture which could kill her so they had to pump the food inside her stomach out.But she survived so she was ok. But I would take your dog to the vet just to make sure things are ok. Better to be safe than sorry.

If she just ate some little peices then don't worry. My husband feeds our dog (1 year old) an m&m almost every night and it dosn't heart out dog one bit. My old dog ate a whole chocolate cupcake once and nothing happend so calm down it'll be fine as long as it didn't eat the whole thing.

Well, if she's small it could be a bigger problem. You know that chocolate can be poisonous to dogs, especially small ones. The best thing to do would be to immediatly call a vet and make sure that she's okay.

haha. thats sooo funny. Mine did that yesterday, on my birthday. Call the vet, some dogs can have a reaction to chocolate... and can die. My dog has a stomach like a tank, so shes fine. But if your dog starts to get sick, deffently call the vet. But most likly it will pass and she will be fine.

She will be fine. Dogs don't have a pancreas is the reason your not supposed to feed them choclate but, in small amounts it's harmless aslong as it's only once in awhile and like i said,,in small amounts. Now go kiss your puppy and tell her your sorry for being a bad mom lol.
