I just went to lunch. It was one of those order and the counter and go sit down places. When I walked in, I chose a table, put my book and keys on it and walked up to the counter to order. When I turned around, two guys had say down at my table, pushing my stuff aside. As I walked over, one said to the other, "these aren't your keys, are they" and I say "No, they are not" and I grabbed my stuff and walked away.

Are people really that clueless?

There were several other tables available. I liked that table because it was off by itself and I was planning to read through lunch.

yes they are and we have to teach them some manners. so next time stand up for yourself. i am not saying make them get up but let them know it is rude to touch other people's stuff. and make them feel guilty for letting a woman down like that

That's incredibly rude of them, especially if there were other empty tables. I dont care if there's garbage on a table, I don't sit at a table if someone has left something there in case they are saving a spot, which contrary to what some other users said is not rude at all, but practical and smart if you're in a hurry or really need a seat. Next time leave something a little more obvious, like a jacket. The two men sound clueless. I would've said something like "Oh, sorry I had my things on their to save the table." If they were polite, they'd move.

They might not have realized. I was boarding an airplane and went to sit next to someone, (there weren't assigned seats) and I moved the magazines that were in the seat and proceeded to have a conversation with the person next to me. A few moments later a young women tapped me on the shoulder and told me I had stole her eat. Apparently the magazines were hers. I had no idea and started to apologize and she just glared at me as I collected my things.

no maybe these to men didn't mean to, or go out of there way to take the table. Maybe if you had simply asked to have it back, rather then make a snide remark and remove your things, they may have apologized...and no we're not all that clueless

Just an idea

Very rude.
If the "guys" had already gotten their food, they probably figured they were entitled to whatever seating they desired. Since you weren't sitting, they claimed the table, in spite of your previous claim. They could have acted like real men and at least talked to you about it...

It was rude of them, yes. But if their order was ready and there were no other seats available, of course they would take an empty one.
They would counter this by saying you were rude to 'save' a table when you weren't ready to sit there.

You should have answered" they are obviously not yours and excuse me but this table is taken. I would call the manager after that, but I'd bet they would move without further discussion, especially if you raised your voice and others heard.

Yes they are and that would infuriate me if that happened, next time don't let people get away with that, boot them out of you seat and make them go find another, they should be inconvenienced not you.

Ever wondered what would have happened if you had said "Yes they are ,my keys. Would you like to join me for lunch?" There are always more than one outcome to a situation. It's only how you handle it . To every action, there is a reaction.

People are either clueless, or jerks. I would have asked them to move. If they keep getting away with it they'll keep doing it.
