I don't want a wedding dress 2 feet past the floor, or anything too frilly and poofy, as this will be an informal wedding (the guys will be in nice khaki shirts, white button ups and flip flops). I don't want it too look too informal though. Any suggestions???

Check out Maggie Sottero's "Destinations" collection. She has beautiful more casual dresses there. JCrew also has a wedding dress section on their website with more caual dresses. My sister just went to white house black market and boght a white halter dress, it was inexpensive and addorable next to her finace who wore the same thing as your groomsmen.

gownfind.net, jessicamcclintock.com, dillards.com, nordstroms.com., dessy.com These websites have the type of wedding attire you are looking for. For a beach wedding, something with eyelet, chiffon. I would nix the flip flops for the guys. Khaki or cream colored linen pants, gauze shirts, opened and a semi formal shoe. No flip flops. Ugh. A floral crown for your hair. Beautiful sandles with a heel...no flats. An informal bouquet of wild flowers with streamers flowing in the wind. Maid of Honor should compliment your dress, but be different.

Most wedding gown designers do some shorter styles, so you ought to be able to find something nice at your local wedding boutique. But there's no law that says you have to wear something designed specifically for weddings, either. You could also look at your local department store, as well, and very likely find something pretty that won't cost nearly as much.

Look around, try some pretty dresses on, and pick what seems comfortable and flattering to you.

Check the major department stores in the prom section. I found my wedding dress at a little store called Maurices here in IA. Not sure where they are all located.
I also looked at JCPenneys, Dillards, VonMaur, Sears, Macy's, and a couple of others.

I think something in a silk, like a sundress with spaghetti straps or strapless would look cute. If you can find some cute flips would also look nice. I would look for something that is light and airy for the breeze that will be blowing, it will be pretty. Try online with Davids bridal. Also check online, look for outdoor wedding dresses and see what that brings up. If you have a seamstress in your area maybe they can design something for you. Look online for design ideas

Congratulations!

Well all bridal boutiques carry these kind of dresses now because beach weddings have become sooo popular. David's bridal even has a collection just for destination weddings.

A lot of designers offer a line of "destination" wedding dresses. They are usually a bit shorter and have a lot less material.

you can go to a mall close to you and get a dress at any nice Department store. Less expensive than a wedding dress store.
