The proper place for the study of religious beliefs is in a church or temple, at home, or in a course on comparative religions, but not in a biology class.
There is no place in our world for an ideology that seeks to close minds, force obedience, and return the world to a paradise that never was. Students should learn that the universe can be confronted and understood, that ideas and authority should be questioned, that an open mind is a good thing.
Education does not exist to confirm people's superstitions, and children do not learn to think when they are fed only dogma.

Watcha think..?

Prehapes you are being closed minded.

You can learn to think even if you are set on one belief. YOU just don't want to be under God's authority and because of that you and a few others here like to bash those who do.

So yes you are being closed minded and immature.

Rather Closed Minded for an Institution of "Learning" I'd say!!! Who's saying that the "Theory of Evolution" has now been "Proven"??? I think NOT!!! Quite Frankly, "Education" no longer "Exists" in the World!!! Want "Proof", ok. There is a Very Popular T.V. Show, about being "Smarter than a 5th. Grader" that "Proves" our "Education System" has FAILED no matter how much $$$ we dump into it!!!!!! So like what is wrong with "Obedience"??? Do U not "Obey" "Traffic Signals"??? Scripture says in James 1:5 "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Like who better to ask than the Creator of the Entire Universe??? John

I think it's fundamentally wrong to teach in schools that all evidence points towards God creating the world. But, in general, this is far less the case than evolution is taught as gospel truth and no other theories are given a look in anymore.

Of course, biology lessons should deal with fact - and while there is some evidence which suggest evolution is correct, there is no absolute definitive proof - if there is, i would genuinely love someone to show me it. And maybe God createing the world precisely as it is today is an unlikely theory.

But, if children are fed the theory of evolution with no room given for other interpretations (As happened to me in school) isn't that as bad from a brainwashing point of view as anything else? You've got to keep a balance, and remember that science is liable to change through time.

Evolution, the teaching that the world is millions of years old, and that things as we experience them, have evolved, is a RELIGION! No one was there to witness it, and it is essentially untestable, and therefore, acceptance of this understanding rests on faith. It strains my credulity. I find it much more believable that a supreme being created it. The odds against chance "evolution" have been calculated as one chance in 10 to the 167 th power. One chance in 10 to the 31st power is generally accepted as a definition of an impossibility. The Sun is using millions of tons of energy every hour. (E=MC squared) If you back up in time, in about a million years old, the Sun is much bigger, and there would have been serious global warming.

I prefer that biology be taught just as biology and earth science as just that. I don't know how all these opposing viewpoints can be fit into the curriculum. There are just 7 hours to each school day. Yes, by all means teach religion at home and in the church.

Is your mind so closed that it can't accept creationism vs. evolution ? Maybe you should learn to accept ideas other than your own or can you do that ?
