Sit still and straight, don't slouch. Keep your hands in your lap. Cross your feet at your ankles.

Keep your napkin in your lap, elbows off table until after dessert, use the appropriate utensils for the salad, main dish, dessert. Talk at a normal level, don't use slang or curse words. Wait to eat until everyone is served. When finished with your meal, put your knife and fork together at the four o'clock position on your plate.

Be on time. Shake hands not too firmly but not limply either. Introduce yourself clearly to those you meet, and say a polite greeting such as "Nice to meet you" or "Good to see you". If you are a man, stand up when a female enters the room. Make eye contact.

Write thank you notes promptly after receiving a gift. Return phone calls. Say good-bye on the telephone.

There are many ways to exhibit good manners, these are just a few things. Good luck.

Keep your self, especially your hands and face clean. Don't interrupt others when they speak, don't speak while eating, keep your voice at a peaceful level.

As for treating others, always put the other person first! Open doors, pull out chairs, offer the better choice of everything first and never make anyone wait for you.

Don't talk with food in your mouth. Don't chew with your mouth open. Keep your elbows off of the dinner table. Say "Excuse me" after you burp... These are just when eating, there are tons!
