The problem is that people often may think they look one way when "posing" but they look different than they feel they do.

One thing you can do is this: When you take a picture, don't look at the camera, but look at something that is jut a little bit above and behind it...like a spot on the wall or something like that. Sometimes, this can remove "camera shyness" from pictures and give your eyes that "staring off into forever" quality.

Another thing you can do is practice. Have your friends take a digital camera and have you make faces while they take pictures. Choose lots of emotions, like: "the face you'd make if someone spilled something on your jeans" or "you're upset because your goldfish died." Then take a look and see which ones of those look best in pictures. Then you have a bunch of "faces" you can use when someone wants to snap a shot. They don't have to know what you're really thinking when they take the picture...that you're wearing your "my mom is yelling at me" face...just so long as the picture looks good when the flash goes off!

Yes, a lot of people have that problem. What you need to do is to realize that everyone has a different view of them self than the rest of the world has of them. This is caused by, for lack of anything better, the simple mirror. Did you know that when you look in the mirror you see an opposite view of your real self? Yes, in the mirror, the right side of the face is on that faces left side ... weird.

But, having said that, what you have to do is to get hold of a digital camera and have a friend take a hundred or more photos of you, posed. See what ways you look the best and always use your best pose, side and hair style for those poses. You'll look terrific. And, don't think that professional don't need to do this ... they ALL do it. The classic example is, love her or hate her is not important, Paris Hilton. When she poses she ALWAYS looks the same. She has found that one look she is happy with and she recreates it over and over again ... and a digital camera can help you find your pose, and you can then be 100% confident in it ... and it will build not only your confidence, but self-esteem also.

Im a full time model and know what you talking about. If I smile in a picture and have to hold that smile for more then a second it looks fake. I have found that if i make myself laugh the pic looks more natural. Even with doing that I can shoot 100 pics and only get 20 good ones. Not every pic will turn out the way you had hoped. You can also use a mirror behind the the photographer so you can see how your pose looks.

There are so many people that feel the same way and everyone wants to feel good about how they look. Even people who are self confident may be fine with seeing a photo that are not very flattering but always likes to see a photo that makes your face glow!

The perfect candid photos comes out perfect because you are relaxed and conferable in your surroundings. Get a hold of a digital camera and, on your own, take lots of pictures by just holding the camera out with your arm. The point is to get conferable with how you look on camera. Try different posses. I find that i like my photos better when i give the biggest smile. I have a friend who likes her pictures better without smiling but her emotions are in her eyes.

Don't worry about how your hair looks. Your hair will not make a photo great. Dont worry because you can always delete the photos. Dont get caught up on bad photos let them go and try another. Dont delete them utill you are done.

Through this process you become conferable with how you look on camera and can find what works best for you. Just remember that you should be able to let a bad photo go.

Have fun with it!
