The real estate market in Illinois (Chicagoland area) is slow right now, so there is not a big demand for new homes to be built. My boyfriend is a carpenter, he is in the union and does mainly residential work (framing). If he were to be laid off, what are the best areas in the U.S. for carpenters to find work?

Tikrit, Basra, Baghdad,Fallaujah,Ar Ramadi,Kirkuk, Mosul,Karbala,Ba'Qubah, and Tawuq. Those are 10 very good cities for union carpenters. For the more productive non-union carpenters, I suggest places like New Orleans, Las Vegas, Miami, and other places like that.
