Leave them on the job and take a 3 hour lunch and don't let anyone else go to lunch till you get back.
Let them walk home. Then when they ask whats the deal
slap em with it.

Say that people are noticing their taking long lunches - unless you are the person that's supposed to be noticing. I had a boss who was meek, and sadly, we walked all over her without really meaning to. I'd never pull the crap we did with her with my current boss...lol. Anyway, if you don't want to act like their boss, and don't want to be too confrontational (even though you probably should) you can say, "hey guys...I hate to have to bring this up again, but your lunches are creeping into the hour long range again...could you try to watch that? Because I got you the jobs, my head is kind of on the chopping block here...and I don't want anyone thinking you're getting special treatment because we're buds..."

Some employees take advantage of a person's good nature when they know that that person won't "bust" them or get tough with them.

If you want to keep the company productive and your credibility intact, it is your place to "get tough" and enforce the lunch time. If you feel reluctant in the confrontation, just look them in the eye and firmly repeat, "It's not my decision, but we all have to respect it anyway....let's go!"

Then when they see you waiting for them to return to work, you will show them your serious intent but staring at them while waiting for them to get up and return to work. If you hear any moaning or confrontational dialog, just reply mildly, "hey c'mon guys...don't get me in trouble after I helped you get this job!

They will know that you are serious and respect you as authority and driver. If they resent you or disrespect you after that, release them and find more grateful replacements. YOur defense for termination was failure to meet minimum expectations and also misrepresntation of recorded work hours. You are deserving of better and more responsible staff members.

remind them again that their lunch break is only 30 minutes, not an hour, and that they are jeopardizing their jobs by always being late, as well as jeopardizing YOUR position because you were the ones that got them hired to begin with.

Be their boss at work not thier friend. If they get fired because you didnt say anything do you think they will be more angry or less because you didnt want to be confrontational?
