hello, my friend sent some marijuana, about $100 worth, through fedex from CA. to las vegas NV. and hes on probabtion. the package never made it, the police got ahold of it. he's currently on formal probation and this will be his 3rd violation. does anyone know how much time he's facing? this would be the first time for drug charges. thanks.

hmmm none of that's good.

shipping across state lines makes it a federal offense, and having him be on probation means that he will be spending some time on probation and maybe even a little jail time, depending on what he is on probation for.

when you're on probation you just have to live clean and simply can't ever get arrested or in any kind of trouble - not only will that once again ensnare you in the legal system, but it means that whatever deal you got to get probation in the first place will be reviewed.

If they really want to nail him and this is a third offense (while on probation no less), he could be looking at federal charges of interstate trafficing in narcotics which sometimes carries a sentence of 20 years.
Will he get that much, doubtful, but he'll probably be realistically looking at 1-5 years.
Maybe during that time he can possibly stop being a slow learner.

I would bet he is looking forward to big boy time in a federal prison for being stupid enough to send marijuana through fed-ex across state lines.

Your friend is not a bright individual! He obviously hasn't learned.

Technically, he crossed state lines because it was his package.

Hopefully a while. They need to find a law against stupidity and charge him with that too. Probably if he didn't smoke pot, he wouldn't have come up with such a moronic idea. Dee Dee Dee.

Not legal until the divorce is final. If the primary reason for wanting to be married right away is the medical insurance, then he can add you as a Partner. I hope that is not the primary reason for both of your sakes.

He sent it FedEx and was stupid enough to use his own personal return address? Or to pack it barehanded and leave fingerprints? Darwin award to that one. He deserves whatever he gets. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
