My uncle Noah makes this great chicken that is sort of like Chicken Parmesan. You need:
4 skinless, bonless chicken breasts
2 eggs
1 cup of bread crumbs (preferably seasoned but you can always add seasoning)
1//2 - 3/4 cup freshly shredded Parmesan (not the stuff in the green can that resembles sawdust)
salt and pepper to taste
2 tbs olive oil
You simply lightly beat the eggs in a shallow baking dish and dip the chicken breasts in it. Then you dredge the chicken in the bread crumbs and season with salt, pepper, and assorted spices/herbs. (I've tried rosemary, basil, paprika, etc...) Next, you heat the oil in a medium frying pan and cook the chicken until it is brown and crispy on both sides. Be careful not to cook the chicken all the way through. Top the breasts with the shredded cheese. Finally you bake the chicken in a glass baking dish at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until the chicken is cooked all the way through.
This is great served with rice, pasta, or potatoes. I recommend wild rice or new potatoes roasted with garlic, sea salt, and peppercorn.

Beans on toast!
Seriously, beans on toast is tasty and is regarded as a nutritionally complete meal. It has a reputation for being cheap and low-effort because, well, it is. Here's how I make beans on toast:
You need:
#Baked beans (1 can may serve two people at a pinch; 2 cans will give a generous serving to three people)
#Tomato puree. This comes cheaply in tubes, a little like toothpaste, and improves the taste of fairly cheap beans MASSIVELY for next to nothing.
# Bread, margarine or butter is optional but tasty
# Possibly cheese...Red cheeses (red Leicester is by far the best) are a good choice, but you can use almost any hard, non-blue cheese.
Steps:
-Toast the bread, and either microwave the contents of the baked beans cans, or heat them in a small saucepan. Halfway through toasting, you can place the cheese on the bread (optional).
-Let the cheese melt, and the bread continue toasting. Once that's finished (toasting bread is very quick. Always keep your eye on the bread under the grill- toast can burn quickly.
-Just pour the beans on top of the toast and eat!
This is so cheap, and takes around 10 minutes at MOST.

Edit: There's a recipe for pasta mixed with Italian sausages below. That also looks a good idea. I remember once having something like it, and it was pretty good. You can do something similar using green pesto, rather than tomato-based sauces, for a different but effective meal.

Italian Penne Pasta Salad
INGREDIENTS
1 cup T. Marzetti® Asiago Peppercorn Dressing
1 pound Penne pasta, cooked, drained and cooled
1 1/2 pounds Grilled or roasted boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced
8 ounces Feta cheese, crumbled
1 (16 ounce) jar pitted kalamata olives, halved
1 teaspoon Dried oregano or Italian seasoning
6 Sundried tomatoes packed in oil, diced
2 medium Roasted sweet peppers (in jar) packed in water, sliced thin
1 (6 ounce) package Baby spinach leaves, cleaned
DIRECTIONS
In large bowl, combine all ingredients with T. Marzetti Asiago Peppercorn Salad Dressing. Toss well. Serve. Store remaining portion, covered in the refrigerator.

For someone that is just starting to cook, you'll need something quick and easy.
How about a Simple Cheese and Onion Pie?
INGREDIENTS
2 (9 inch) refrigerated pie crusts
5 sweet onions, sliced
8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese
freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup milk
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Place one pie crust into a deep-dish pie pan. Layer the bottom with half of the onions and half of the cheese. Season to taste with pepper. Layer with the remaining onions and cheese; season with pepper. Pour milk over the pie filling. Place the remaining pie crust on top of the filling. Make small holes in the crust to allow steam to escape.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove, and let cool 15 minutes before serving.

pasta and tomato sauce :)
i make these things called sloppy tots and its great cheap food, i make it for my vegan boyfriend all the time.
take 3/4ths bag of tator tots, the normal size bags,
2 bell peppers any color,
5 green onions,
about 1/2 a white onion
(and any other veggies and what not u want to add)
Can of manwhich or w.e its called
basically pour the tator tots into a pan and fry them up until they are cooked in the middle, mashing them up a tiny bit doesn't hurt at all and helps then cook faster, then add the veggies and manwhich and let it cook for a few mins and done.
put on a yummy bun and eat up, this also feeds a lot for such a small amount of food, very filling, and just as good for left overs.

Grilled Italian Sausages with Pasta and Vegetables
Prep Time:30 min
Start to Finish:50 min
Makes:5 servings
1 1/4 pounds Italian sausage links (4 or 5 links)
2 large bell peppers, cut lengthwise into fourths
3/4 cup Italian dressing
2 cups uncooked penne pasta (6 ounces)
4 plum (Roma) tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1. Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat. Grill sausages 4 to 6 inches from medium heat 15 to 20 minutes, turning frequently, until no longer pink in center.
2. Brush bell pepper pieces with about 2 tablespoons of the dressing. Add to grill for last 10 minutes of cooking time, turning frequently, until crisp-tender.
3. Meanwhile, cook and drain pasta as directed on package.
4. Cut sausages into 1/2-inch slices; cut bell peppers into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Toss pasta, sausages, bell peppers, tomatoes and remaining dressing. Sprinkle with basil.

In my opinion, buy bags of boneless/skinless chicken breast gives you a wide variety of options besides the obvious grilling or sauteing.
You can cut up into small pieces, cook in a skillet with olive oil and garlic, when the pink is gone add any veggies you like, I usually do mushrooms and sometimes broccoli, add some prepared al dente pasta to the skillet.
You can also eat that over rice.
You can add some sweet and sour sauce to it and Asian type veggie for stir fry and have over rice or over Chinese noodles
You can cut them into strips, saute until the pink is gone and add some fajita seasoning (I just use the envelope stuff), you can add onions and peppers if you like them, serve with warm tortillas and your favorite toppings.

Really cheap meal
Cook Hamburger Meat
Take the noodles out of Ramen Noodle soup pack remove flavor and keep aside for popcorn snack later. Drain water off ramen noodles add meat mix with butter, parm cheese, and garlic.

Brown Boneless skinless chicken breasts
After they are cooked(no pink inside)
pour a can of stewed tomatoes
Artichoke hearts
black olives
green olives
(really any ingredients you like)
let simmer for 15-20mns
serve on pasta, rice or to cut out the carb/calories serve as is
add fresh crated Parmesan cheese
It is deliscious!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this tater tot casserole is unbelievably delicious and addictive. it is very chea as well.
take a deep casserole dish or 400 hotel pan and put in a layer of the fried tots, add a layer of browned/drained ground beef, add a can or two of campbells cream of celery soup and add a layer of american cheese. do this three times using different cheeses and different cream soups. it is very filling and by far the most delicious casserole i have ever had in my life. i ran it as a dinner special at several restaurants, and it is a huge hit. please try it out! you can garnish it with fried leek strips.
