If I was him, in all fairness I would have.
Just delete it all and start over again. Third time lucky?
**edit**
But then again, seeing as we are still here there either is no God, or some of us must be worth being kept alive.

He's waiting for us to do it or turn sinful and destroy ourselves through war, famine, disiese and modern warfare - in the end we're like his pets (eg. a hamster) to just experiment on - once we've accomplised this misdominor, the rancorous rivalries will soon catch up.
So my advice is stay amoral and good - even if you don't believe in God (like me), there is still "proof" that something else is keeping us alive for reasons unknown.
If your interested go to this link...hope it will help...

Fortunately God is long suffering and loves us. He will say enough is enough soon and the catching away of the believers will occur. Then He will pour out His wrath on the unbelievers for 7 years.

Well, He tried Hard back in Noah's day, but just couldn't let the lot go!
Don't worry though; you're just about 27 years too early, as I see it.
"When they are ripe for destruction" are His words.... in terms of His extermination by fire next time.
I believe you have just over about 2 decades left yet to get yourself fully in order!!
Good Luck!

There is a God, but He is not like us. We are prone to slap our kids at the first sign of rebellion. God, however, has amazing patience. He is waiting patiently for people to repent and turn to Him.
2. Petere 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is PATIENT WITH YOU, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

" If there were a god....." if you don't think there is, then your question is pointless and a waste of time even for you.
And the existence of "God", in no way makes it possible or even likely that mere man would know or understand the reasons for anything that said "God" may or may not have. I suggest you learn your own purpose for existence before you try to concieve of the purpose for existence of a "God".
