I wear shorts to the knee, tank tops, capris, dresses and skirts, short sleeve blouses, jeans. One can dress modestly and still be in fashion.

Yeah, your mom's steering you the right way. More moms should get involved.

I don't wear middriffs anymore (I did when I was a young sinner). No low cut for me, too self-conscious. (Guess that is the Holy Spirit talking to me).

I don't have a problem with cuts off unless they show your naked backside, i.e., Daisey Dukes. I wear cut offs the length of a skirt (24 or 25 inches), just above the knee.

V-neck T shirts are okay, just don't show too much cleavage. Some Christian women have a problem showing their arms but I don't see a problem with that on a hot day. So I wear sleeveless blouses or Tees.

You can dress modestly and still look cool and stylish.

I'm an atheist guy. And while some women do look good in midriffs, cut offs, etc, not all women look good wearing that.

Conversely, women can look sexy in almost any type of clothing. Remember, there is a difference between 'tight' and 'form fitting'. I am sure that there are plenty of outfits that will please your mom but still flatter your looks and personality. I'm not an expert in women's fashion, some of the most attractive women I know dress very conservatively; they have a relaxed and quite confidence. they may not be the first woman a mans eyes are drawn to in a room, but there is something about them, a grace, a dignity with which they carry themselves that make men's eyes wonder back.

Don't sweat too much your mom's clothing restrictions. You'll be in college soon enough. Believe me College = freedom.

I usually wear clothes...unless I am naked...then I don't..

just teasing..it sounds like you are younger, and it is best to keep covered (and still be stylish) when you are younger.

I dress pretty modestly even now at 30, though when I was in my mid 20's I did wear skimpier clothes...when I went out, not everyday.

You have the responsibility as a female (Christians or not) to be aware of how your dressing effects others (mainly men). I have heard too many stories of men with a problem with some sort of sexual addiction, that all it too was seeing a young girl dressed seductively to flip that switch and they cross the line.
I know it sounds prudish, but you have to also take into consideration your safety. Girls that draw attention to themselves at a young age, tend to get the wrong kind of attention, and can end up in very scary situations.

I say, trust your mom on this one. Dress cue but covered and every one will be happy :D

For me it's more of an issue of being a self-respecting woman than Christianity. Sure I'll show more skin when I go out with my friends than when I go to church but I would much rather have someone be interested in me for my mind or personality than the fact that I strut around dressed like a street walker.

A lot of other female bartenders who I know also feel like they have to dress skimpily in order to get better tips. Last time I checked I'm selling drinks and not my body. I dress more modestly at work than I do elsewhere (enough nasty drunks will hit on you without you putting yourself on display) and I am very happy with the amount of tips I get. Perhaps it's because I do my job, do it well, and do it with a smile.

I dress quite conservatively, higher necklines, no skin showing other than my face and hands usually. This is a good policy for several reasons:

1. When you are showing off your body to everyone, it doesn't leave anything to the imagination. It isn't special when you find your love, you are giving it away for free to anyone.

2. You will know that when someone takes an interest in you, its for your heart and mind, not just your body. This is important to know as a teenager and later in life, because it keeps away the men who just want sex and helps you maintain a more positive self image.

3. As a Christian, you want to do what is right by the Bible standards, and being flashy and sleazy doesn't please God and Jesus.

4. This is just an extra thing, but it protects you from skin cancer. As a kid, I wasn't allowed to wear bare legs or arms, let alone belly or cleavage. I can say at 41 that I have better skin, look younger and have no worries of skin cancer than the girls who "let it all hang out" as teens.

5. Ask yourself what you are saying by letting your belly button show and wearing low cut shirts and stuff. You are inviting sex and attention to yourself. Do you want to be a teenage mother? Do you want all attention on you to be sexual? If you wonder what the big deal is, look at Brittney Spears.....she is a great case of someone who let it all show, went for the sexual attention, and didn't think much of it. She is what, early 20's, and burned out? Two kids she wasn't ready for, now she wants people to notice her for other things than her body, and its hard to un-ring a bell. Who would take her seriously now? What will her kids think of her as a Mom?

As someone who has a 25 year class reunion coming up, it will be interesting to see how many of the gals who dressed sleazy have a good life now. Many of the girls who wore low cut shirts and cutoffs were dropouts and mothers themselves before school got out. Most of the cheerleaders got in trouble one way or another and had pretty rough lives as of the last reunion. Lots of those girls are grandparents now at age 42/43!!! They also had more divorces because they thought their self worth was about their bodies instead of brains or honesty, and they are on a downhill slide once the bodies go, and believe me, they do!

Not to say I never wore a miniskirt, but if I did, it was with tights until I was over 21. Never had an upper arm bared or more than two buttons undone in a high necked shirt. You know what? I thank my parents now for raising me this way. I got a chance to be a kid when I was a kid without having to throw sex into the mix too early. Boys and men respected me much more, and still do. My friends are still my friends, I am happily married, and have no regrets about my past.

Living modestly is not just a sense of how much skin to show, its also about respecting yourself.

I think I dress appropriately for the occasion. Like I wouldn't wear my club clothes to work.

I do wear low cut or midriff tops often. I think they are cute and it's way too hot in the summer to be wearing a lot of clothes.

I can see where your mother is coming from. You don't want to attract the kind of attention that will make people refer to you as too sexy. There is a line, you have to draw.

I dress very modestly. I believe when someone is a Christian, that just comes naturally--to want to dress modestly. I can't figure out whey some celebs wear a huge cross and then dress sexy. That's like an oxymoron...

I'm not Christian and I dress conservatively. Mainly because I have no desire to be seen in that light. Plus I have kids. That has nothing to do with Christianity and a lot on how you want to be seen by others.
