I believe that all judeo christian religions have some basic truths. I have respect for Judism and Islam and their teachings. I believe in Jesus but I don't believe the bible word for word.

When I say I believe in Jesus, I do believe he is God's son.

I think you are simply being cautious and pragmatic in your approach to God. That is good. Actually, the Holy Spirit does not mind if we doubt something we are told because doubt invariably strengthens us.

You can very well be describing a Catholic.

"I believe that all judeo christian religions have some basic truths" - Catholicism believes that there are elements of God in faiths/religions other than Christianity.

"I have respect for Judism and Islam and their teachings" - ditto for Catholicism.

"I believe in Jesus.." - that's a given for Catholicism.

"...but I don't believe the bible word for word" - Catholicism does not take the bible word for word literally, it takes into account the *context* in which the passages are written, as well as the traditions and teachings of the early Fathers of the Church.

I believe you're someone striving to find a way to respect all people, no matter what they believe in. Since Christianity and Islam are both children of Judaism, of course all three have some basic truths. However, you can't make up your own religion. Either you believe in the Bible or you don't. How do you determine which sections to believe or disbelieve?

Believe in Jesus? As what? Just another historical figure, a prophet or God incarnate? What of His atoning death, burial and resurrection? Do you believe all people will go to heaven when they die? I don't mean to be rude but you would need to be more specific about your beliefs for me to classify them.

sound like your a confuse person..for judaism and christians are the same..and islam is opposite of judaism and christianity.
islam..give you no right of opinion..have right to abouse a wife and kids, right to kill them too..all under their law.
judaism and christianity...we don't have that right..becuase SINCE GOD send JESUS..the blood of JESUS..pay for SINS..once an for ALL..yet..by FAITH of this..is GRACE.
Islam has NO GRACE..no tolerance..it actually communism..if you don't agree..death sentence you'll get.
there is NO MERCY..in islam..yete..in Judaism and christianity..there is.
thank GOD..for JESUS.. GOD has peace with man.and desirre GOOD WILL onto them..yet..only them..who seek..honor..respect..reverance the LORD will..
then they will have..life..health and wealth.
speaking of wealth..america is rich..because of Christinaity..not become of islam..and Islam nation are NOT rich neither..yet..been around as long or longer than we..WHy isn't there dumb god blessing theM?
