Casio Z75 or Z1050 is a great choice, nice and thin, lightweight, shoots photos and video with sound. Easy to use controls and a 2.5" screen to view.

Canon's are considered one of the best camera's in the world. THe Canon SD 600 is a small, yet powerful camera. It requires an SD card for memory (which you can buy anywhere, and it comes in many sizes).
Honestly, I would stick with canons. They will give you the best pictures, they are sturdy, and have big LCD screens. Depending on your budget, there is a variety that you can choose from. The 600 is around $200, but it will last you years. If you want more than a 6 megapixel one, you can go with the SD 700,or 900 which hvae more megapixels (and are priced higher).
These are all very small pocketable camera's, that are top of the line.
If these are too expensive for you, you could also go with the little bigger (and have more manual controls) A series. They are a little bigger, but provide very similar quality (if not better) to the SDs.
You can buy from Amazon, or Ebay, as these will give you the best prices.
Good luck!

I've been really happy with Casio Exlim cameras. I bought one for my wife and each daughter. I like that it is really slim, easy to put in a shirt pocket when turned off. It goes from being turned off to ready shoot really fast. It's also got a nice feature called best shot, which is a bunch of pre-configured settings for different picture taking environments that is easy for anyone to understand.
It also has a docking station that you connect via USB to the PC. I like that better than just using a cable. It uses a proprietary battery, replaceable, that recharges when in the docking station. I've had 2 of these for over 2 years and never had a battery issue. They take fantastic pictures.
I also have a Canon and have had Sony and Olympus cameras. I highly recommend the Casio. You can see it at Circuit City. Best Buy doesn't sell Casio.
