No, really there is no difference. Depends on whether you need bifocals or just regular glasses, (single-vision). Prices are competitive or slightly less than an eye doctor or places like Sears and JC Penny.
The frames are about the same price as the eye doctor, you may save a few bucks. They have all different types of designer and regular frames at Wal-Mart.
The reason I know this is because I recently purchased a pair of eyeglasses at WM two years ago after buying them from mall eyeglass places, and Sears. They were slightly cheaper at WM. They'll give you a quote if you take your prescription in.

Just bring your prescription in to Wal-Mart and the lens will be made the same way as at the optometrist. The only difference will be in the selection of frames and the price.

You can improve your eyesight by simply learning, naturally and practicing the correct way to see for a few small minutes a day. I followed this method and now my vision is perfect http://improve-vision.kyma.info
Here are some eye exercises to help improving your eyesight.
Step 1 of eye exercises: Give a soothing massage to your face as well as the area around your eyes. Rub your temples and forehead gently, you can use aromatic oil to add the relaxation. Feel the tension go away from your mind and body.
Step 2 of eye exercises: After relaxing your eyes, start with exercises to strengthen the eyes muscles. For example, lower and raise your eyebrows or rolling your eyes slowly. The shut your eyes and cover them with your palms. While training your eye muscles, it is important to give them a relaxing condition. “Vision Without Glasses” - program you'll be taken by the hand, it shows you how to improve your vision naturally, permanent and complete solution.

its not. not really.
walmart optical labs dont use the best quality stuff sometimes IMO but they're servicable. jjust like everything else they buy in bulk and use off-brand lenses. most private eye docs use pretty high quality brand name stuff.
but IMO it really depends more on THE PERSON who makes your glasses. if that person is trained and experienced, then you'll get a good pair. if that person is not very well trained and/or not very experienced, you're more likely to get a bad pair.
