Yes. Please say "Yoda" so I can go train with him on his swamp planet and learn to be a ninja.

Don't get me wrong, I totally get your point. I'm Agnostic and am not sure if God exists.
However, I kind of feel that fictional characters (maybe it's just me and I'm nutty) do have a kind of life. Kind of like the Golem comment above. They exist, and were created, in someone's brain. And the more people know about these characters (Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, Yoda, etc..) the more they kind of ARE alive in a way. I can't quite explain my thinking on this. But people would be very sad if Mickey Mouse were to "die" or Kermit or etc.... In this way, they are kind of alive.
So, I'm agnostic merely for the fact that "we don't know". We don't know if god exists because we don't have proof but we also don't have proof that he DOESN'T exist. In a way, the fact that humans discuss God constantly, it makes you wonder, well... maybe there's a reason people have this God idea in their heads. That's partly why I'm Agnostic and not Atheist.
Again, don't misunderstand me. I think that quote, "Any Atheist who says there is no God, has already given God existence by mention of God" is one of the dumbest ones I've heard. And I'm completely dead set against following the bible - a book of fiction and utter nonsense. If it made logical sense, yeah, sure, I'd give it some consideration. But it doesn't.

Superman and Yoda exist in the collective imagination. so they are as real as Santa. God, the Great Spirit, Alla, Jehovah Brahma, what ever name you want to give to the term GOD, exists as you exist in your mind and creativity. so if the premise is as stated above in your question then Superman and Yoda do exist out of our creativity which is part of the GOD essence, which is part of us all. In peoples dreams they create and live a reality in other dimensions. There, there is an other reality. As do people who work with the human/animal Energy field that is a different reality and a field of all possibilities. What you believe and visualize becomes your reality. so you work it out. and enjoy it.
think of the tree in the forest. if it falls. and no one hears it does it make a sound? Of course it does. unless it is in a vacuum.

Basically, yeah. That is the Bizzaro Land in which some "Christians" live. "It's not the same," says Jax, with no explanation of WHY it's not the same - because it IS.
"Most Atheist (sic) hate God," says Steve N. Well, no. This is just one of the standard "Christian" attempts at defamation of character. Atheists may hate the crimes that have been committed by human beings in the name of God - and justly so - but they do not "hate God," any more than Christians "hate Allah" because of 9/11.

It is not the mentioning alone that brings matter into existence. It is the power of suggestion, which implies believing in what one says. In response to your question, if you believe Yoda exists, then he does in your world.
Creation is a mysterious and powerful thing. Look up this in google.com (Golem protects synagogue in Czechoslovakia) Golems are made by man, much similar to how man was supposedly made by God.

Deke,
As a Christian I would response to your question as YES!
If you read the comic book and it speaks to your heart, then go for it.
There are about 5,125,458,632,258,741 different gods out there. Who am I to tell you who to serve.
But before you start worshiping Superman or Yoda, first read what their comic books have to say about salvation and redemption.
Should be a hoot.
I would think that Yoda would have better insight!

You mean you don't believe in Yoda? Offended me you have. Become a Jedi you may not. Anyway, the person who gave you that answer needs to take Logic 101. They're using the Ontological Argument, but not correctly.

Your logic is faulty.
Their logic is faulty.
God created the heavens and the earth. He exists whether we acknowledge him or not.
And because an atheist says, "There is no God", that does not make God cease to exist.

as a writer that is a scary thought "can we simply will a fictional character into existence simply by saying their name?"
I would not want the villains in my book to come to life, none of them for that matter

I understand this person's viewpoint, obsessing on the subject of 'God' gives credence to the idea. But dammit, Yoda is real!
