I am a Christian.
But I don't watch television preachers anymore unless they talk to me intelligently.
Example; Paula White speaks and repeats herself such as.."His will shall be done in heaven and in 2007" then she slowly repeated it again and again, while pointing upwards and then downwards, as if she is speaking to retards,
so I changed the channel to avoid hearing her repeat it again. Creflo Dollar does this also, and so do other preachers, they repeat things over and over, as if we listeners are a bunch of dummies who didn't get it right the first time.
I find it downright insulting, an affront to my status as an adult and it is annoying.
Do you notice this and if so, what do you make of it, if anything.
For that very reason, I refuse to listen so as not to get my intelligence insulted. I love God, but surely God isn't doing this!

Any Christian Ministry named after the person who is in charge of it has already missed the point.

I had a problem with Paula White Ministries back in...October? They opened an envelope not addressed to them (it was addressed to my bank), threw away the deposit slip, and cashed a $900 check made out to me. I could not get ahold of a person for weeks. It just made me realize....if they can't answer something as important as that, do you really think they're spending time praying for you when you leave them a voice mail message?

God can work in many ways. And God may be reaching many of those people in the audience. But the goal of Paula White or anyone else who has a ministry similar to hers tends to be more how many people they can get to see them rather than how many people they can get to see God.

There are very few televangelists worth listening to, since there's alot of heresy being taught. My recommendations are Dr. Charles Stanley (former President of the SBC) and Dr. Michael Youssef.

Stay away from Paula White, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn and the like.

Televangelists are the subject of considerable controversy. Both their methods and theology have received widespread criticism from both church and secular sources. Many televangelists are featured on discernment websites run by Christians that are concerned about what they see as departures from sound Christian faith. The following are amongst the issues have been raised:

Lack of accountability

Supernatural theology

Flamboyant lifestyles

Financial emphasis

Personality cult

Health and wealth teaching

False prophecies

False teaching

Entertainment focus

Exploitation

Crowd manipulation

Disputed success

I try to listen to people whose styles and/or message are different from mine. We serve a very complex God and each of us only see a very small part of who he is. By listening to people who think differently than we do, we can pick up more tidbits about who he is (assuming they truly know him of course).

A lot of the repetition is because with US 21st century attention spans, 95% of the message is probably forgotten 5 minutes after it's spoken.

Although not all Christians are morons, it's safe to say that a good portion of the Christians who send money in to a total stranger just might be. After all, this is the demographic that kept Robert Tilton in business (repeatedly).

I stay away from televangelists. Most of them are really bad for the image of Christianity. Billy Graham is one of the exceptions. He's not a typical televangelist though.

Preachers, and public speakers, repeat things to cement them in our memory. In the Bible, when God wants us to take notice of something, it is repeated over and over.

The Father gives us free will. The church is full of people and people are flawed. Try not to judge, keep them hands clean. :)
