Let them get to know each other on their own schedule. I did the reverse four years ago, bringing a 9-year-old pound dog into my home with my 11-year-old cat. Last year, I brought a Golden Retriever pup into the mix along with a Fish-Named-Fred. Well, the cat drinks out of the fish bowl and as she dies this allegedly fighting fish swims around kissing her on the lips. The old dog is the instigator when it comes to cat chasing. And, except for Fred, they all sleep with me on the bed at night. Just don't push it. Their friendship will develop.

Feed them together, but in seperate bowls, and pet them at the same time, so they don' t feel jealous of each other for the special treatment that the other is getting. Also, if possible ,put them in the same bed.

And, the dog might be cuious to get to know the new kitten, so its behavior might frighten the little kitten, so try to keep an eye on the dog when it' s playing with the cat, because if the cat thinks that the dog is trying to bully itself, then I promise they will not get along well for the rest of their lives. Good luck!
