Honestly, there probably is no way. Too many people are sensitive about these issues. Too many people get on here just to be jerks (religious and non-religious both). I think the best thing you can do is not to take it personally and just go about your business. If you have a question, then ask it, and ignore the bad answers. If you have an answer, present it, and move on with your life. You can report people who break the community rules, but otherwise, it isn't worth the effort of worrying about the people who are mean-spirited, and perhaps the overly-sensitive need to find somewhere else more friendly to express their spirituality. I think it is good of you to consider this, though. It is a good question.

there isn't really a way to stop bad feelings... everyone has conflicting viewpoints.. The best thing you can do is not take others views so seriously and stay steadfast in yours. =)

yeah, that's what i had to do--block the fundie right wing supposed christian hate mongers that fill my inbox with insults because they hate atheists. thankfully, there's not that many hateful ones.
