Ok, Picard or Kirk- who's your favorite?
Or do you prefer one of the 'other' captains such as Janeway or Sisco?
I have to say that i'm a Picard fan, that mind can solve any problem while Kirk is all about muscles, bravado and stilted speech!

They had different strengths. Kirk was brash, impulsive, sometimes even reckless, but always brave and willing to go the extra mile.
Picard is steadier, a cooler thinker, more logical, still brave and willing to go the extra mile.
Janeway and Sisco were cool, but I'm still stuck between Picard and Kirk.

Kirk, Picard would have been flicked into the nearest black hole with his long winded observations. Kirk is a man of action, and a quick mind, and with Kirk you get Spock, the best #2 in all sci fi by far, who can even think there is any one else that can even come close to Spock, and the Kirk and Spock together?! Kirk had 4 ways of dealing with any alien:
1. blast em!
2. baffle them with bull****
3. sleep with them
4.blast em again!
Picard had 4 also:
1. engage them with deep analysis
2. engage them with more converstation and deep analysis
3. have someone else do it
4. watch a orignal Star Trek re-run, (he was a big Kirk fan)
Janaway or sisco??? Kirk would have taken them along as phaser bait , and they would be eaten or mind altered withn minutes, like other 2nd rate officers on the original shows.

Kirk because he and his crew had character where as picard's and the later generations were all do goody federation Automatons
