I've been ordering my contact lenses from an internet based supplier for the last 3 years, using the prescription my optometrist gave me at the time. I'm just wondering if the diameter and/or base curve can change at some point, because the left side is starting to not feel quite right anymore...

it sure can. a contact lens prescription is good for a year, then you need to have an exam to check the health of your cornea, the prescription you have, and to evaluate the fit of your contacts.

FYI--over the last 3 years, some really comfortable contacts have come on the market. You might want to ask your optometrist for a sample of some more breathable lenses.

Yes, of course! Eyes need a check atleast once every year or two. Go for a fresh check and get the right lenses for you.

Have you not had your eyes checked in 3 years? You really need to go see your eye doctor to make sure your eyes are okay. Sometimes, one eye can get dry, causing your contact to not feel comfortable. But you could have a more serious problem.
When you are putting a piece of plastic directly on your eyeball, it is essential that you get it checked annually to ensure proper eye health.
