You will have to keep in mind that this was in the early 60's...
They were BOTH in the Marine Corps (and you can keep your "Yo mamma wears combat boots" jokes to yourself, I've heard 'em all before), stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms, California. Mom was a lifeguard at the pool, and to get from her barracks to the pool she had to walk past Dad's barracks. He would lean out the window and mime a rifle while yelling BAM, BAM,BAM. BAM was an old term (remember, 60's) that stood for Broad A$$ed Marine. For whatever reason, she thought that was cute.
Then a few days later he was at the pool, showing off for her on the high dive, and clunked his head on the board. Mom, all 5'4 of her, pulled the 6'2 250lb, Jarhead out out of the water and resuscitated him.
How he proposed is just as silly. He said "Hey babe, you know that I would get paid more if we got married." Two weeks later they were in Vegas. They were together until she died last year.
And they say that romance is dead!

At a topless bar. My mother worked there as her second job, first job was as a nurse. They met at the end of Oct. and were married by the following Feb (1976). Mom quit her job at the bar in Jan. I was born the following year in July (1977). They have been married for 31 years now. I'm so proud of them.

During WWW2 in London. Mom was in the RAF and on her way home. She got a ration of rum and offered to share with my Dad. Dad got shipped to Holland and Germany. When he was being shipped home he went back to London and found my mother and married her. They were married 50 years and had 15 children. They have both passed on and I miss them every day.

My grandfather introduced my parents. He knew my father first, they met while doing something they both enjoyed doing which eventually destroyed both family bonds. A sad reality. but true.
