If we either go to Heaven or Hell when we die, then why do some spirits stay stuck on Earth?

When a human here on Earth dies, their spirit either goes to Heaven or Hell. But very very few of their spirits stay stuck on here on Earth when they die. I think they are called ghosts, and the places their spirts roam is considered haunted. Well I don't know if they exist or not, but if they do then why is their spirit stuck here. Is it their own free will that decides they want to stay here? Is Earth considered a Purgatory. Can they decide if they can go to Heaven or Hell if they get bored here. I thought God judges us and makes us go to either Heaven or Hell, but then why do some stay here. I don't remember hearing when people die they can stay here too.

The Bible explicitly forbids attempted contact with spirits that pretend to be spirits of the dead (Deuteronomy 18:11). The Bible states that the dead do not have contact with the living (Luke 16:19-31). The reason for this is because such spirits are not spirits of the dead but rather deceitful spirits under the command of Satan. The Bible calls such spirits "demons", "evil spirits", and "unclean spirits". These demonic spirits are familiar with the departed dead whom they seek to imitate. This is why they are able to supply people with intimate details of names, places, and facts. Indeed, Isaiah 29:4 calls such a spirit a "familiar spirit" (KJV).

On the rare occurrence that something unseen does move among people, it's not a ghost. Spirits of dead people are not "stuck" here in limbo until some onus is abated. I know this may not be well received by too many, but think of them as energy with consciousness. If you get a chance, rent the movie called "The Entity". Some call them "disembodied spirits", but others just call them daimon. The movie is a true story. The book is amazing. As far as I am personally concerned, some doubt remains in my mind, but it does make sense to a degree. The jury is still out.

I think that when a person had freak accident or murder and/or suicide due to confused mind or unfinished business, stay on the earth or residual like rewind (over and over). Some stay and/or control by evil without go to heaven created havoc. Its needs help to go light (heaven) and peace. Some stuck forever on the earth because when other people claim its haunted house so its filled too many medium, paranormal investigate or some people plays with ghost caused upset or angry instead pray, sage burning and holy water will decrease but not all, like evil spirits controlled ghost without go to heavens. Some ghost or spirit comes visit family to protect loved ones. I think all are in my opinion. If you disagree, its okay. Tell me what you think,

I have really studied hard to find that answer and its really cloudy where ghost come from.
I beleive in ghost myself, and in a biblical aspect of ghost in the book of Enoch, one
of Noahs grandfathers lived in the time of the giants.
They were half human and half angel.
They were described as being really mighty
and wicked.
The theory is when god flooded the earth
because of all thier wickedness and because their fathers were angels, when they all drowned they became disembodied
spirits or known as demons.
Ive read a lot of material about what a demon is and this is what the scholars point at.The book of Enoch.
I personally feel that the giants in those days where from angels that were damned for hell and that part of the giants lived on
as disembodied spirits even as today.
The bible describes them as "watchers"..
Demons attach to people their entire lives
and when they pass on the demon knows that person better than anybody does and
he is still here as a disembodied spirit.
The scaryist thing about people who hunt for ghost is it seems they only make an appearance is when the hunter says"anybody here?"
It makes me wonder whats the difference between that and using a ouigia board?
Whats stopping the spirits from attaching
themselves to the hunters themselves?

I love questions like this, One after a person dies, the spirit (soul) leaves the body is going either to heaven or Hell, The mind will create a spirit to fill the void, or a angel of Satan finds out about your need to have your loved ones around so you can feel better or to scare the tar out of us, The dead, their spirit doesn't hang around.

Well first of all, there is no heaven and hell (and I'm a friggin Catholic! Why am I saying this? LOL). The way I imagine it (and yes, I did say "imagine" - you know, like John Lennon's song...) is that there is one earth - two dimensions, and then an inbetween (a twilight zone!) people go across from one dimension to the other, unless there is some unfinished business here. Or because they like it here too much.

Some "ghosts" are actually just residus - residual energy from the person who died there, made visible somehow but I'll spare you the technical details - they've passed on, but there's still energy left there, living its own life. No consciousness.

I am almost positive that when a person dies they either go to Heaven or Hell, but that is only when they are either murdered or die of natural causes. I have heard that if you commit suicide you will stya on Earth, and you will be tortured, by seeing your family go on without you. That is only what i heard, and what i think =] hope i helped

I have felt the presents of Ghosts they come to tell me good bye before going on. Some Ghosts are evil and there work is not done they are bound here untill God releases them.

Some people say it is because they havent accepted that they have died and that they are roaming to find their families and such. Is earth part of purgatory that is an interesting thought I will have to investigate that. Sounds possible.
