i recently read the answers to another persons question on why atheists are so mean. many of the atheists reponded meanly which just proves the point many Christians are trying to make. im not saying that all atheists are mean, one of my best friends is atheists and i pray for her and talk to her about and she is willing to listen even thought she disagrees. SO MY QUESTION IS, IF ATHEISTS ARE TRYING TO PROVE THAT THEY AREN'T MEAN, THEN WHY DO THEY DO THINGS THATS ARE MEAN? THEY ARE JUST PROVING THEMSELVES WRONG!

I don't know but it's pretty funny, they proved the point that was being made. I think I read that question too and noticed that all they (atheist) were doing was talking trash. I'm also not saying all atheists just the ones for that particular question.

It's funny you said NOT ALL atheist but some of these people are lumping all Christians together, I don't care what your religion or lack of is, if we are cool than we are cool, but I do hate stupid people, and there seem to be some on here. :D

It is not mean to imply there is no God. By not allowing you to worship God it can seem hurtful, I know. Atheist believe that men and women alike should be free from religion logic, which is tainted by non-scientific philosophy. I guess that the closed minded Atheist is mean when it comes down to not accepting others beliefs.
Other then that I don't see how an Atheist is any meaner then a Christian. Christians like to think that with the holy spirit there comes love joy peace patience and understanding (

what was so mean about their answers? without knowing the answer or question i can only speculate. perhaps the question was rude or condescending? or perhaps the person asking it has a history of atheist bashing? or perhaps you didn't like the answers due to your own bias?

usually i am not mean, unless provoked. (there's a particular 'christian' user on here that has been unduly rude to me, and i'm mean to him, but that's about it... i'll be rude in reaction to rudeness)

DO YOU THINK THIS IS MEAN?? from a "christian"
"Subject: hey vile finger pointer

I said this once and I'll say it again. This question is on here everyday. Many Christians ask in very offensive manors towards atheists, and when they atheist answer the same way they are treated, they are told they are mean. Atheists are used to be ridiculed by a lot of religious people, so if they are mean sometimes, it's just a reaction. I'm not against any regious person or belief. You're life is fuller because of your beliefs, so I'm happy it's a part of your life. But I'm happy with my beliefs, so I don't take kindly to having other beliefs pushed on me.

I am not an Atheist, but I am pretty pissed off with your question here.

You Christians think that someone telling you what they believe is mean? You think that someone standing up for their belief is mean? What a crock of crap.

One thing you could do that would help everyone on here -

STOP TAKING EVERYTHING SO PERSONALLY.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you does not mean they are mean. It means they are smart enough to engage in discussion. It is nothing to you PERSONALLY if someone on here is an Atheist, is it???

More Christian whining - I am gonna start passing out cheese and crackers.

The problem with a comment like "they are mean" is that it's ridiculous. Are Christians loving? Some are, some are not. Are Atheists mean? Again, some are, some aren't. People are people and putting them into little groups to stereotype them serves no purpose.

Also remember that "mean" is pretty subjective.

I guess the 600,000 dead people killed by christians, just suffered from friendly fire eh? Not mean at all. Most of America is Christian, so jails should be empty, save for the odd atheist or whatnot. Were atheists responsible for inquisitions and crusades, or was it christians? What about child molesting, which is accepted and condoned by the Catholic church, thats not mean eh?

IN this room, many atheists don't claim to be mean...they just prove it by the anger and sarcasm in their responses. Many people could take you serious or would at least finish reading your response if you, an atheist, wrote it in a serious tone to present their feelings.

When it sounds like hollering or sarcasm, people will fall deaf to the voice....same happens when written with a negative tone.

If they claim to be mean, or negative or closed-minded...they only push readers further away from their comments, so they won't get read. Do you really want that to happen?

It's as bad as listening to loud neighbors and trying to get back at them by being loud. Nobody wins.

It makes me sad that we should have to prove that we're not mean, to be honest. Some Christians on this forum write things I wouldn't say to any human being, but I wouldn't hold every other Christian on this forum accountable for it.

I'm an athiest and i'm considered extremely nice.
All peoples and groups have a certain percentage of Aholes, just the law of averages. Atheist can be mean, Preist can molest kids, Police can commit murder; maybe it's not "supposed" to happen, but it does..
