There is no certain breed that is the best personality wise. It really depends on the individual cat. All cats shed the same but longer hair cats are more noticable:) I breed Persians and I just love them. They have beautiful coats and most of them have great personalities but again each vary:)

It doesn't matter whether its a tabby or a white cat, they both shed. I feel that one isn't better than the other. But if you want a cat that doesn't shed hair get one that's a non-shedding or hairless one. I've seen the cat that is hairless but I can't remember what breed it is. They are so funny looking to say the least If by any chance someone out there knows the breed of cat I'm thinking of, please let this girl know.
You could always get a stuffed animal, at least it will be calmer and won't shed hair.

well tabies are very well tempered cats, (i have 3) but so are white cats. if you dont want shedding getting a short haired cat will cut down on that. neither cat is better than the other. some white cats with blue eyes end up being deaf, but as long as it stays inside then it should be fine. all cats have different personalities, so no specific breed is calmer, it all depends on what the cat is like. go to www.petfinder.com and look at the different cats you might be interested in.

A persian is a white cat and he/her has a long haired breed. They shed alot. I know. I have one. You would want a shorthaired white cat. Some shorthaired white cats are not all wite.
A tabi is a short haired cat. They are fine but they eat alot. U need to feed them every day. Also they are very good at jumping so if you have a fish I wouldn't get a tabby!
Hpe you pick carefully/
I have a Ragdoll cat and they are sometimes hyper and lazy. They are a good cat. If I were you I would get a Ragdoll.

Neither is better than the other, it all depends on personality. Unfortunately, you won't know their personality until they are about 1 year old. You could get a kitten that is extremely playful, but when he grows up, he's lazy, or the other way around. I would reccommend getting a tabby if you are worried about hair, they don't shed any less than a white cat, but because the fur is basically brownish, the hairs don't stand out so much on clothes!

Silly people with their silly answers.
Tabby and white are just colors. The color of a cat's fur means absolutely nothing about their personality, grooming habits, or anything else. That's like saying, "Who is more likely to be a good friend, a brunette or a redhead?". The color of your hair has nothing to do with your personality!
I think you're getting colors/markings mixed up with cat breeds. Different breeds of cat - Siamese, Bengal, Persian, and so on - have different personalities, traits, behaviors and so on. But these have nothing to do with their colorings. If you're comparing an ordinary domestic short-haired cat with white fur, and an ordinary domestic short-haired cat with tabby fur, it's just not possible to predict what their behavior will be like on that factor alone!

I have a tabby and an angora cat. My tabby sheds a lot, I mean all the time. My angora sheds too much a lot less, his coat stays nice and shiny most of the time but he is very picky about grooming himself, he has to be clean. My tabby is very playful and talkative whereas the angora is laid back but can and likes to open cabinets, doors and such. They are both wonderful but it depends on the cat and what you are looking for. Hope this helps. Email if you have any questions.

That's impossible to say. Cats have different personalities just like people. Color does not indicate how calm a cat is. Some cats shed more then others but they all shed...color has nothing to do with it.

A tabi! I have one and it is much much calmer. A white cat is more skittish and sheds much more than a tabi.!!!!!!

It is not the color or breed of cat as much as the length of the fur.
CATS DO NOT HAVE HAIR! They have fur...........
Just a note for all those that don't know.
Cats tend to shed when their environment or diet change drastically or if they are sick or upset.
All breeds and fur lengths, you just notice the long furred ones more.
Good Luck
