Salvation is an overarching term that includes many concepts. Election, redemption, propitiation, justification, new birth, baptism in the Holy Spirit, and glorification (in the future resurrection of our bodies) are all different aspects of salvation. They are all ways that Christ has saved us from the effects of the fall. Redemption is a more specific term that refers to Christ paying the price for us with his blood. We have been "bought back." We now belong to God and are delivered out of the kingdom of darkness. Romans 8 tells us, however, that the ultimate applications of this deliverance such as the "redemption of our bodies" awaits a future fulfillment.

Very in simple terms, with the aid of the laying off of His Blood on the pass, Christ redeemed all men. Redemption potential the paying of the fee. enable us to take a standard occasion. If ten men are in reformatory with the aid of fact they won't pay one hundred money positive, they proceed to be there to the top of the sentence or have somebody pay the positive. enable us to declare a redeemer supplies the courtroom 1000 money for the ten men. All have been redeemed. although, in simple terms 2 pass away the reformatory, and different 8 proceed their reformatory sentence. What can we've? we've ten men redeemed (the fee for them replaced into paid). although, basically 2 have been stored. that they had the gumption to stand up and pass away the reformatory while the cage replaced into opened. as quickly as back, all men have been redeemed with the aid of Christ, and yet some refuse to make the main of Christ’s redeeming demise.

Jesus Christ Suffered and Died for the redemption of the sinful .
Salvation is a future reward for faithful saints and that we should strive to be found worthy to receive it (Luke 13:24).
Salvation is glorification - God's future reward for his obedient children.

I thought they were the same thing if they aren't I guess salvation is when you first try to redeem yourself and redemption is when you are already saved

In every day usage not much.
Way back in Old Testament history there is a difference in the origins of the words, but today, they are used pretty much interchangeably.

they are both facets of the same jewel
redemption means to buy back
salvation means to be forgiven
we are bought back from our sins, we are saved from our sins so we dont have to sin bought back by Jesus
it breaks his heart when we reject Jesus
He even had his birth predicted 700 years before he came
Isaiah 9:6 Unto us a child is born a son is given and he will be almighty God the wonderful counselor and the prince of peace."
Many others say the bible has been changed but why would those of my Jewish people that reject their own Messiah Jesus and claim it will be another-leave this in their Jewish Scriptures=because it is God's Word and none can change it.
there is a real heaven and as Daniel 12:2 says a hell of abhorance forever -Jesus said so too=Revelation 19-22nd chapters and described the joy of heaven and the agony of forever in hell for rejecting his salvation too=
why not believe Jesus Words
He said if we reject his words, my words shall judge you in the last day at the judgement." John 12:48
Mathew 24 Jesus says hell is gnashing teeth and weeping forever & its Revelation 19-22nd chapters that describes the joy of heaven and agony of hell
this is what happened when I let the Words of Jesus save me=Revelation 3:19&20 "I love you and ask you to repent (even of one lie) and Behold I stand at your heart door and knock if you hear my word, and ask me in, I will come in and be your friend and you mine.
Jesus offers us to be our best friend-It happened for me that day when I prayed, "Jesus thank you that you love me and offer to come into my heart and be my friend, I am sorry for my sins, please come in, amen."
praying the best for you too
to be in redemption and salvation with inner peace and joy evermore on earth and in heaven too, even with trial He will always come through for you, David

The way I understand it, you're redeemed when still alive. Salvation comes after death. (I think.)
