Okay, here's a metaphor for you (compliments of another question asked yesterday, which got me thinking, since the other answer wanted to find out the health benefits of the water)
Let's say you are stranded in a desert and have no water. Your car broke down and your cell phone is not working because you are too far away. No other car has been by so you had to abandon your vehicle to walk the 80 miles to town. Time is running out and you can't wait until dark to travel.
Your water jugs are now completely used up and you're really thirsty. At last, you come up to a water wagon, ran by a man who has the water already bottled up and it's waiting for you. The man has a t-shirt on that says, Jesus loves you and so do I. Will you get a drink of water, or would you keep crawling?
What if you had kids with you and it had been several hours since you ran out of water and it's really hot out and your kids are dehydrated?

Any Christian "worth their salt" would offer the water, but there are some people who would refuse it.

Just because someone believes differently from myself doesn't mean I'd pass them by when either I have need or they do.

Uhhhh the water duhh. Why would I keep crawling because some crazy old man is sitting in the middle of nowhere with a jug of water waiting for people to crawl out of the desert dieing of thirst wearing a jesus loves you shirt? That would make me say hmmm this guy is going to kill me if I don't drink some water and keep my strength up.

1. metaphor (n.):
A figure of speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing is used to designate another, thus making an implicit comparison, as in “a sea of troubles” or “All the world's a stage” (Shakespeare).
2. Parable: (n.)
A simple story illustrating a moral or religious lesson.
3. If I had no water why would I carry empty water jugs?

Easy question. Accept the water. After Hurricane Katrina I accepted help from a lot of Christians and I also have a lot more forgiving attitude toward Christians than I used to. Even though I feel that for most of them, they did their good works for a selfish motive. Many people still benefited.

I don't really understand the question, the T-shirt is immaterial.
What really bothers me is that I am expected to go and get the water. Not only for myself but also for my possibly dying children.
Are you implying that some Christians are so mean spirited that
they wouldn't even offer and allow you and your kids to crawl on
and suffer ?. In other words they wouldn't even help out of their own accord !. That's sad !.

As Jesus walked crucifix on his back, the kindness of strangers offered him water. Some the soldier's shoved away. Kindness holds no religious boundaries. Drink the water and say thank you. If someone offers their hand to assist you in need who am I to push them away? Give your children water first and drink yourself. Thank you.

Logic implies I take the water by any means neccessary to further the course of my own survival.
Either I get it in a friendly way or I take it by force.
His t-shirt does not factor into the logical argument.

If he's offering the water, no strings attached, I would take it.
But that doesn't mean I believe in his imaginary friend, nor does it make his imaginary friend real because I accepted the water.
It's just one human being being decent to another human being.
Best if you leave the metaphors to the people who know how.

I would just greet my brother in the Lord, pray with him,and then just tough it out and crawl the 80 miles to safety and a well deserved drink.
(actually.....the last part about crawling to safety with no drink,is not true.
