non Christians call Christians closed minded when we dont see things their way and accept their way of life in us. I think that we would all get along better if we would stop expecting otheirs to accept what they find unacceptable

I agree with you to an extent. It goes both ways, though, as some non-Christians only act this way in reaction to Christians doing the same thing. Both sides do it. You are right that we would get along better if we stop expecting others to accept what they find unacceptable, but what about when the thing that they find unacceptable is US? I don't think the issue is this simple. That said, it is definitely hypocritical to call one side close-minded, because neither Christians OR non-Christians hold a monopoly on close-mindedness, prejudice, and intolerance. Maybe the answer is not just expecting people to accept what they find unacceptable, but rather people learning to accept people for who they are and then leaving them alone. Even then, however, what if you honestly think that what someone is doing is wrong? The real issue here is that we are all, Christian and non-Christian alike, to quick to oversimplify the problem and apply stereotypes to one another.

The Christian had to look inward and do a lot of searching and finally come to the point of acceptance. A non-christian is fighting against something and has put up very thick walls that would take a tragedy or a miracle to break through. God wants us to be either hot or cold because then He can work with us. Like Saul in the scriptures who was so faithful to his job of killing Christians until God showed him the truth by speaking to him and temporarily blinding him . At that point he became a believer and his name was changed to Paul. As faithful as he was on the cold end of the scale he was just as faithful to the other end of the scale and is one of our favorite Bible writers. So all of you non-believers once you let God through there is no telling what great gifts you will offer to mankind and His service. Christian believers please pray for our non-believing friends and pray in earnest because time is short. It won't be long now and we will be going home. Be genuine and earnest while there is still time. The Bible says to pray without ceasing. Prayer will work better than all the fancy dissertations in the world. May God richly bless you. Mmm

I think the best thing to do as a christian is to have actions speak louder than words. Do this by not trying to compromise medical research (stem cells), human rights (gay rights, etc.), science and education (evolution), and democracy (by seeking theocratic agendas). Allow for the possibility that the god of the bible is an ego projection and hides the real god from people's experience. Allow for all possibilities; I do. Question and research and allow the horrible and intense fear of having your foundational belief systems ripped away -- it's scary but it's the only honest approach to life. The result may be a startling discovery that you are closer to the Real Divinity that's out there.

When you say non-Christian, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean people who don't believe in God or do you mean any other religion besides Christianity? You are aware, I assume, that there are other religions besides Christianity? For example, I am a 60-year-old Jewish woman and I have never in my life been close-minded. It is not close-minded to not accept something as true that is not proven and doesn't make sense to you. So I'll make a deal with you...if you don't tell me that I am going to hell and will burn in torment for all eternity because I don't accept Jesus as my savior, then I won't try to tell you that you should be Jewish. OK?

Why do non-Christians make such sweeping generalizations? Oh, you assert this is merely your opinion, not possibly the opinion of ALL non-believers (your term, not mine). nicely, what you heard on television this morning became the opinion of possibly ONE Christian, not all. do not take the perspectives of somebody who says they're a definite faith, and assume that all and sundry of that faith feels or believes an identical way. There are crackpots and extremists in each and every faith. how are you able to positioned up a question like this and assume an answer? all and sundry who could admit to being "closed minded" are actually not likely to respond to you, and something persons could answer yet won't be able to allow you be attentive to something because of the fact no person knows how yet another guy or woman thinks or why they think of that way.

Actually I'd only call a Christian closed minded if they refused to accept the truth.

Basically anyone who denies modern science or honestly believes in Creationism is truly closed minded or rather biased towards a preferred way of thinking.

I am open minded, but I can't except the christian god, an incestuous homosexual couple. A perfect god would come up with something better than that, and more believable. The world is made up of 52% women, where is their representation in heaven? Christians worship a Male Supreme god who tramples women under His feet. Doesn't aknowledge that woman have the power to procreate - for example, read any of the lines of descent - Joe begat Fred, Fred begat Mike, Mike begat Tim, and so forth. Christianity is gender predudiced, and full of human rights violations. I find your god discusting, an abomination, and myth. Jesus was born of a woman, as is every other human.

Please don't generalize - it makes all Christians look bad. Both Christians and non-Christians have been accused of being "closed-minded"

I am a Christian, and I believe it takes an open mind to accept the word of God as true, because there is so much in it that we cannot understand without the Holy Spirit's help. I stand firm in my faith - if others see that as being "closed minded", that is their perogative. I'm not here to judge...

It is not just Christians but all religions feel as though only they know God and everyone else is a sinner for not worshiping the same way and teaching the same doctrine.

Judaism, Islam, Christianity, it is all the same follow me or be my enemy. Remember the Christian Crusades? Christians riding through Europe slaying any and all who did not convert. In the name of God? Please. It is insidious.

Religion is divisive by nature and that is mans doing.

This is a "They started it" answer.
Most non-Christians feel claustrophobic about it. We feel its preached and shoved into our laws. All in the "name of God" a god we don't either follow or believe in. It gets really frustrating to hear you are going to hell all the time. That our Gods are false Gods or demons. That atheist have no morals. Many don't even know their own religious history. Yet they preach our stupidity. Not all. I know lots of really nice open minded people on both side. But its more often then not.
