They used to say a lot of things couldn't happen.Israel as a nation is no more.It hasn't been for 2000 years .Then in 1948 God restores the Nation of Israel.
Peter says "A day with the Lord is a thousand years, and a thousand years but a day."
Hey,it's only been a couple of days! What're you in a hurry?

Oh, cool, an easy question:
Yep, you are right: each and every generation on Earth has thought that Christ would return, and then they were terribly disappointed. Why did this happen? Because of the same reasons alot of nonsense is believed today: people are unlearned in what they read in Scripture:
The final generation COULD NOT BE until the Tribe of Judah returned to establish a State in and around Judea. That event happened for the very first time on May 15, 1948. We are NOW in the final generation.
Scripture tells us that AFTER that event occurs which ushers in this final generation, then year by year, a falling away from the professed beliefs happens. People start to turn away from Christianity. Other religions take its place or else atheism. The stage begins to be set up for a different World Government to come in, but never really gets off the ground until Antichrist comes.
This has been happening; you even read about the "New World Order", which groups like "greenpeace" are pushing. In fact, in order to get Americans to for-go their Constitution, they would have to be in fear of greater upsets: I present to you two that are in the news daily: The global warming issue, and Terrorism. Another scare used is the problem of worldwide disease: Bird flu and Aids are just two of them.
Never before was that a real problem worldwide, but today it is, since people travel all over the world in airplanes.
The stage is well-set, and ready to go:
But before Christ returns, another event has to transpire: Antichrist will come disguised as Jesus Christ. He'll prove he is supernatural, and even Christian Church goers will flock to him and believe he is Christ.
Christ emphatically stated that people just like you will say "Where is your God? People have said he's coming back since the crucifiction, so where is he?".
You, my friend, are fulfilling prophecy right here on this forum and don't even know it.
Believe it when you see it.

I think most of us do realize that this has been going on for 2,000 years. My own husband has pointed this out to me on several occasions. However, we're just doing what we're told to do:
1 Thessalonians 1:10-And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians 4:17&18-Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 5:6-Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
We are to watch for this, and because we love the Lord we are joyful about His return. We can't predict it, so when you are told what year it will be you can pretty well know it won't happen then. But we are in a generation that has more reasons to look for the coming then ever before. There are things that will happen and we have the technology to see them happen.

It's going to happen. It will happen when God wants it not before. When it happens I will be raptured and I would not like to be left here at all. I may be dead when it happens. A lifetime to God and eternity is very short.

St. Martin of Tours (ca. 316-397) wrote, "There is no doubt that the Antichrist has already been born. Firmly established already in his early years, he will, after reaching maturity, achieve supreme power."
