Any tutor will not do as by this age your kid has lost a good
3 to 4 years. If he is not dyslexic then there is still hope to catch up in a short time.An experienced tutor or special-needs trainer may help. Start with short words with single
and double syllables, using cards. Use videos so that learning is not boring and interest is maintained. Get hold of simple books with larger texts and some pictures. Actually suitable relatives can guide the kid but lots n lots of patience is required for him to regain his confidence. Then progress can be speedy. Best wishes!

As an ex Headmaster, I would recommend approaching local schools to see if there are any members of staff who could take you on. Failing that, advertise in your local paper for a QUALIFIED teacher to look at the problem. Another way is to tackle this yourself. It can be done with a few minutes every day and a book relating to your child's favourite hobby, pastime, game etc. Just use repetition and consolidation over and over until he is confident with short sentences. Praise is the key here. Best of luck, I'm sure a teacher will help. I'd do it myself but I'm in the middle of the UK!

There's a tool that let's you search for tutors affiliated with the Sylvan Learning Centers. I know they are big here in the US, and the search tool has a drop down box featuring Canada, so, maybe you can find something there.
