1 Peter 1: 15-16 ~ But as he which hath called you is HOLY, so be ye HOLY in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye HOLY for I am HOLY.

We are called to be holy in Conversation and in our daily lives, although we are NOT perfect, we can be holy, " I press toward the mark of the hight calling, which is in Jesus Christ our Lord". As we press toward this mark, we are striving toward perfection and Holiness, Don't give up the fight. God said "If i find you so DOING". As long as you try, you are seeking after Holiness.

What does Holiness mean to you? How can you be Holy? Is being Holy important to out daily lives?

God Bless

Holiness to me is being pure in thought in speech and in our actions. It is important to be with Christ for eternity. We become Holy by imitating Christ in every aspect of our lives.

In Jesus Name

A really good way to find out what it means to be holy is to to to examine all of 1 Peter 1 and on into 1 Peter 2 and especially focus on key verses like

1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance

1 Peter1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart

1 Peter 2:1-2 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation

Then go back and look at where the original quote comes from. Go read Leviticus 11, Leviticus 19, And Leviticus 20. You will find out what it means to be holy.

Some of it is going to go against mainstream christianitys traditional beliefs but thats their problem not the scriptures. Remember always go to the soarce. Notice this following passage also from 1 Peter 1

1 Peter 1:18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers,

Basically to be holy or to be set apart means to be called out by God for a special purpose and as part of that calling you accept Yahshua as your savior and accept his blood as payment for your sins and you "repent" or turn around and walk back toward God. That means that you live according to his word or his torah.

To be holy is to live a torah based life style.

I could really write for all day on this as you probably could:

Loving Grace Ministries’ Wayne Monblueau said: Holiness is not necessarily the absence of sin; it is the presence of Jesus.

And so, I have found, He comes and lives in and through me and I am abiding in Him and his Word is abiding in me. Then, I am asking and being filled with His Spirit…and Paul said: “walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

I also have tried by shear will power to be more holy and I have had God bring me to the scripture of Galatians 3:3 --I know the circumstance was circumcision here but the principle is the same:
For, if we try, by our strength, to sanctify our selves then we will fall hard so God can show us that we are using our own strength. But then to depend on Him for sanctification unto holiness and the daily holiness we walk in when we put on the breastplate of righteousness.

Great Question:
To me Holiness is trying to imitate Christ in all things and always being open to the Will of God.
Sometimes people think that Christianity is just a bunch of rules that you have to obey and your job is to say NO to all the bad things in this world. No, thats not the way to holiness.
We are called to say "YES" to God in everything we do. It makes it much easier this way.

"Let it be done to me according to your will" - Blessed Virgin Mary.
By her "YES" she became a participant in the redemption of man. By the YES of all the Saint, they became Holy and closer to God. By the ultimate YES of Christ, mankind was redeemed.

I will recommend a great book called "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas a Kempis. It is a book only second to the Bible in popularity and sales. For those who are seeking to be in closer union with God, this book will be very helpful.

God Bless

We are holy because Jesus Christ made us that way, being holy and perfect are too seperate things.

God is holy and being holy allows God to strike us down to show his glory.

What I said may sound strange and you may think that what is completely wrong, but that's what GOD does.

Too be holy means to do what is right and loving.

Now you might say killing someone isn't very loving, but to kill someone to show others who GOD is and saving them by making an example of the christians around the one who died is.

Read Ezekiel 24:15-27 God kills Ezekiel's wife to show the others around Ezekiel that GOD is the one Sovereign LORD.

Holy is living as Jesus Lived while he was on earth.

Jesus said, who loves me, Keeps my Commandments

To me keeping your thoughts, speech, actions without sin or shame.

Golden Rule

Do to others as you would have them done unto you

In Matthew it says feed the hungry, visit the widows, give drink to the thirsty, invite homeless people into your home,

In short help people and give a helping hand out to someone in worse shape then yourself

And to always pray and repent when you do sin.

No your sins so you can repent from them and change your evil ways

i've been to a "holiness" church. There was a LOT of jumping around, shouting, screaming, running around, and general mayhem. Then people settled down and paid. Then some guy got up and talked about Jesus and some other folk. Then somebody jumped on an organ and everybody started screaming and running around again.

Tre bizzare.

Holiness is the quality of God's energy, the purity of God's soul. People who get in touch with it generally become saints because once anyone has had a taste of that kind of energy, nothing else will do.

To me, holiness means being separate from the world and dedicated to loving, serving and worshipping God. It means purity and living in a state of grace.

Jesus said to be holy even as he is holy. I think he means that as long as we do exactly what he says we are holy. He that does righteousness is righteous even as he is righteous.
We must do righteousness.
I think dress is important also, women whould not show personal body parts as to entice men and men should not dress as Dwight Yokum.
The Romans, Greeks, and Balylonians, etc contributed much good, but we must be in Christ to be accepted by God.
In Christ is to love God and others and this is holiness when it shows itself inwardly and outwardly.
