Jesus didn't claim to be equal with God. Jesus claimed to be God. Because there is only one God a concept that Jesus being raised as a Jew was VERY familiar with there is no one who could be God's equal. Yet Jesus claimed to be the I AM. The Jews understood he had claimed to be God they were prepared to stone Him for making the claim...
The Father is God he is all the God that there is. The Son (Jesus) is God He is all the God there is. The Holy Spirit is God and again all the God that there is. Yet still there is but one God. This is best understood by the mortal mind by looking at Creation.
The dimension of space are height, width and breadth. Each of these dimensions is infinite and by that definition each contains all space. Yet these dimension make up one space.
God is like that, each is God all the God that can be because He is infinite yet these three are the One true God... Jim

NO----Jesus never claimed to be equal to Almighty God. In fact he said that his Father was greater than he was. One cannot be greater than another and still be equal in every way. That would be impossible.
Jesus sits at God's right hand---1 Peter 3:22
Jesus worships the same God we do---John 20:17, Revelation 3:12, Ephesians 1:3
Jesus can do nothing on his own ---John 5:19
Jesus cannot be equal to God for God has no equal--Isaiah 40:25
Jesus was exalted to be a Prince and Saviour. He did not exalt himself. Almighty God would never bear the title of "Prince", but his Son can and does.-- Acts 5:31, Daniel 12:1

You will not get Christians to think twice about this, because it has been brainwashed into their heads from a young age.
As far as my beliefs are concerned, Jesus has two Stations, just like every other Prophet of God, Muhammad, Moses, etc
The first station, is that of physical being, living, breathing, eating, sleeping, and in now way is this station equal with God. That station would be equal to us humans, as we need to do all of that in order to survive.
The second station, is that of spirit, and in that case, he is equal to god, cause he is bringing God's word to us. The same Spirit that is God, is in Jesus.
So if you say Jesus is equal to God, i would agree, but only because of the second station.

depends on how you look at it. however, i do believe jesus was special. no one quite like him or could compare to him. the way i see it as is that people believe there is a god, yet there's no proof to say that he exists nor is there proof to say that he doesnt. yet, there's proof of jesus' existence. jesus preached the good news to people about god. in certain aspects of jesus' life, jesus is shown to have some sort of power. the power to believe in the greater good. i think if jesus were to claim as being equal with god, it would be in the way people would view both jesus and god. people believe in god the same way they believe in jesus. then there was jesus dieing for our sins. that means a whole lot to christians. i think we're all children of god, however that jesus is a part of god. the connection between god and jesus may make that claim possible. you've also got to remember though that jesus knew what was gonna happen before it happened. like a premonition. so, if he knew what was gonna happen in the future, it also means that he knew that many christians would see him as equal to god

3. And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity;
4. Neither confounding the persons nor dividing the substance.
5. For there is one person of the Father, another of the Son, and another of the Holy Spirit.
6. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is all one, the glory equal, the majesty coeternal.
7. Such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Spirit.
8. The Father uncreated, the Son uncreated, and the Holy Spirit uncreated.
9. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Spirit incomprehensible.
10. The Father eternal, the Son eternal, and the Holy Spirit eternal.
11. And yet they are not three eternals but one eternal.
12. As also there are not three uncreated nor three incomprehensible, but one uncreated and one incomprehensible.
13. So likewise the Father is almighty, the Son almighty, and the Holy Spirit almighty.
14. And yet they are not three almighties, but one almighty.
15. So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God;
16. And yet they are not three Gods, but one God.

Jesus Christ Claims to be God
Matt. 4:7; Luke 4:12 - Jesus tells satan, "you shall not tempt the Lord your God" in reference to Himself.
Matt. 5:21-22; 27-28; 31-32; 33-34; 38-39; 43-44 - Jesus makes Himself equal to God when He declares, "You heard it said...but I say to you.."
Matt. 7:21-22; Luke 6:46 - not everyone who says to Jesus, "Lord, Lord." Jesus calls Himself Lord, which is God.
Matt. 9:2; Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:48 - Jesus forgives sins. Only God can forgive sins.
Matt. 12:8; Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5 - Jesus says that He is "Lord of the Sabbath." He is the Lord of God's law which means He is God.
Matt. 18:20 - Jesus says where two or three are gathered in His name, there He is in the midst of them.
Matt. 21:3; Luke 19:31,34 - Jesus calls himself "Lord." "The Lord has need of them."
Matt. 26:64; Mark 14:62; Luke 22:70 - Jesus acknowledges that He is the Son of God.
Matt. 28:20 - Jesus said He is with us always, even unto the end of the world. Only God is omnipresent.
Mark 14:36 - Jesus calls God "Abba," Aramaic for daddy, which was an absolutely unprecedented address to God and demonstrates Jesus' unique intimacy with the Father.
Luke 8:39 - Luke reports that Jesus said "tell how much God has done for you." And the man declared how much Jesus did.
Luke 17:18 - Jesus asks why the other nine lepers did not come back to give praise to Him, God, except the Samaritan leper.
Luke 19:38,40 - Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. If these were silent, the very stones would cry out.
John 5:18 - Jesus claimed to be God. The Jews knew this because Jesus called God His Father and made Himself equal to God. This is why Jesus was crucified.

You looking for really "serious" answer? I mean, REALLY "serious"?
Then you have to know that Jesus didn't even exist probably and was just a stolen myth from ancient cultures predating christianity.
Bible doesn't mention a single fact about him, like date of birth or anything. Clearly there's no evidence for Jesus but a 2000 year old book written 80 years after alleged death.

Jesus is the second part of the Trinity. Although you will not find the word "Trinity" in the Holy Bible, the doctrine is there and it is Jesus that taught it, Matt. 28:19...
Father (God), Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit (God/Jesus' Spirit)
Jesus was 100% man and 100% God.
Hope that helps...
Also, you might want to read the book of John (fourth book of the New Testament.) Happy reading!
