I am wondering if there is any single disk cd players that go into the dashboard for a taurus with the oval control council. i know there are 6 disk changers for the trunk but i just want a stock cd player where i can put a cd in up front.

They used to make what they call a "kit" (cheap plastic **** that you just screw into the dash and the CD player slides into it.).... try searching on EBay.

I've never seen a front CD player in the 96-99 Taurus; I don't think they were available.
If your Taurus has the climate control module with rotary knobs, then you can purchase a kit that will allow you to install an after-market CD player into the factory radio/climate control location.
