Islam is one of the three main religions in the world today.
It is a blend of Judaism, Christianity, and Paganism.

It began in the 600's. A man named Muhammed said an angel talked to him in a cave and gave him messages.
These messages were recorded by other people.

He started to spread these messages to nearby villages. Some accepted them, some did not.
He forced some to convert to his religion, and taxed those who would not convert, those who refused to convert or pay the tax he killed.

It is true that Islam means "submission" as stated in posts above.
There are a lot of things to see in the links below for your convenience.

Islam like Xianity was spawned from Judaism - but it also had to placate the Moon worshiping pagans in the area, hence the extensive use of the crescent moon symbol throughout the Islamificated world.
Some schools of thought disagree with that but I reckon it's the better story.

Islam is a religion that thrives on the arrogant assumption that it is the most logical, the most scientific and the most perfect religion. While the fact is that it is the stupidest doctrine — the most backward and absurd belief.

The other thing to remember about Islam is that it's more a government that a religion as it permeates EVERY facet of life. Where and when you pray, which body part you wash, and the fact that even if a woman is cooking bread at the communal oven she MUST come satisfy her husband if and when he wants.
It's slightly backward.

Oh, and they see the whole of the woman as a sex object that must be covered at all times lest one of those sex-mad, undisciplined, irresponsible muzzie fellas wants to dive on top of her to relieve himself in 3.2 seconds.

Oh, and it is definitely not The Religion of Peace.

Muslims are people who follow the religion of Islam. A Muslim ( is a person who submits to Allah). The only connection between Islam and Christianity is that Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all from Abraham's decent. And Islam considers both of them people of the book because according to Islam, Islam wasn't just a religion sent by God. Allah sent his words but some people chose to take their own meaning of it. Muslims and Islam is the religion that satisfies and believes in all the prophets and the words of Allah (swt).

Muslims are followers of the religion of Islam. It has no connection to Christianity other than the fact that Islam also follows the message of Jesus (pbuh), but without the belief that he is the same being as God.

The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means.
The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus.
Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a "Muslim", The word also implies "peace" which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah.

No, it is another religion. Muslims follow Islam (meaning Submission). the word 'Muslim' is the Arabic form meaning "One who Submits".

We dont believe Jesus was God, or part of a trinity, but we do believe in his prophethood. We believe in God, and his name in Arabic is Allah. We believe in hm without any partners or helpers. We believe in Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Noah, Lot, etc.

Hope that helps!

No it stands alone like Judaism or Buddhism.

Their holy book calls Christians blasphemers for believing Jesus is the son of God and died on the cross. They say it did not happen and is not true.
