Hi, I have been treating my 14 week old pup with Advocate from the vets, which you put on back of his neck. Vet says it treats fleas and worms in one. He still drags his bottom on the floor though, could it still be worms or something else?

It's possible he might have a problem with his anal glands. Unusual in a young pup but worth getting the vet to check.

It's better to treat worms and flea's seperately, I use Drontal for worms and frontline for flea's. Both can be bought at pet shop or from your vet Usually when they drag there bottoms along the floor it anal glands want cleaning. Never heard of this with worms

I recommend a call back to the vet. A young pup can pick up lots of parasites and Advocate may not get them all. Or it may take a little time. The vet should be able to give you a suggestion by phone message.

Phew. If you've been to the vet then perhaps Advocate just isn't working. That happened to my dog and I had to change treatment. Ask your vet to consider Stronghold which is administered in the same way (this is a prescription only treatment) and while you are there ask him/her to look at the dog's anal glands which could be another reason for the bum scratching.

a million) that is completely familiar for doggies to have worms. in simple terms take the puppy to the vet to get a checkup & worming scientific care. 2) that is not in many situations needed for human beings to be aggravating approximately catching the worms. except you're fiddling with the canine-poop or sticking your hands up his bum and then putting your hands on your mouth. in simple terms make constructive all of us washes their hands spectacular after dealing with the puppy. If the puppy has fleas, your domicile might have have been given contaminated and could be 'flea-bombed' (fumigated). save an eye fixed on your comfortable furniture (carpets, rugs, curtains, upholstery, bedding, etc).

Go back to the vet and tell him/her this. I've never heard of the product you are using. Perhaps it is
a trial drug in which the vet needs to know it isn't working. Don't wait any longer. The condition will get worse.

number one, wash your floors where he did this so you wont get any kind of germs from it and then see when he goes to poop if there is worms in his poop, or if he is just itchy from pooping all the worms out of him.
but please wash the floor where he drags his butt, you CAN get germs from it.
