Has anyone actually "experienced" a Albertsons wedding cake? Good? Bad? Are they fresh baked and do they really stand up to their claims?

Many times people tend to overlook their neighborhood stores where they have shopped for years and is often the best value. Get samples and see pictures. Have them give you a call when they have cakes ready to go. We went with a local produce/farm store for our flowers. They were GORGEOUS! Only spent $700 and that included everything!

I'm actually going to Alberstons to order mine tomorrow! My fiances mom and step dad both used to be bakers there. I'm paying $200 for a 3 tier cake that feeds about 130 people. Right now they're having a sale, 25% off all wedding cakes. It's good through the whole summer so check with your local Albertsons, I'm sure they'll have the sale too. Everything I've heard is that the cake tastes great, and yes, they look wonderful. I wouldn't order my cake there unless I was totally sure, and coming from two people that used to work there is a great source!

My friend did a walmart one and I used a grocery store cake for my grooms cake. (We dont live in a state with Albertsons) It was fabulous. I mean cake is cake and if you aren't picking an outrageously difficult design that you want --like fondant icing designed to look like a Fabroge egg or something--they should be able to completely meet your expectations. All cakes are baked the same way.

I recommend getting a mini cake beforehand. Not the full wedding cake of course but a top layer. Round 6 inch, with the filling you chose or whatever. So that you will know if you don't like it and can make any changes. Usually they have multiple icings to chose from and I liked the whipped best.

The only problem I discovered with ordering that way is that *usually* you have to pick it up from the store (most dont do delivery) and set it up yourself. They give you each layer in the box. It's well protected and easy to transport but merely that you have to have someone available (cause it wont be you or your mom) to pick up cake and deliver it to reception hall.

However often the caterer will set it up for you for a minimal charge--especially if she agreed to do the cake cutting.

We ordered my best friends wedding cake from Albertsons after we had her bridal shower cake from there. It was awesome and everybody commented that it was one of the best they've had. The wedding cake was white with red piping and red roses. The bridal shower cake was shaped like a bride and looked amazing. She had traditional white, chocolate, and a strawberry layer.

I think albertsons can be great as long as you don't want something really complicated and order in advance.

I have been to 2 weddings and one of my mothers that had albertson's cakes and they were wonderful. My mother had a different flavored cake for each tier. I would highly recommend it. You get to chose the cake all the way down to the icing. Go for it you will not be disappointed.

When I got married last year, we got our cake from a Kroger in town, which is similar to Albertson's and it was fantastic, and very affordable. It came out to be less than a dollar per serving and it was fantastic. The cake decorator did a great job.

Good Luck

ask for a sample, if you like it then go for it. I got my wedding cake from Smith's, it was wonderful, it was all gone by the end of the night. Just because it's from a grocery store doesn't mean it won't offer the same quality and look as the ones that are very expensive, plus you save some money.

Go to your Alberstons and ask for samples. I've not had good experiences with Albertson's baked goods in the past. What about delivery?

I had one from a Shoprite and it was fabulous. One of the best wedding cakes ever, since it wasn't stale. It was beautiful and tasted good.
