Vista is Microsoft's newest operating system, it replaces Windows XP. It has several new features built into it check out their site for all of the added features. The costs range depending on the version. I have seen as little as $100 for the Home version to $500 for the Ultimate version. You can get it directly from Microsoft or my favorite www.newegg.com. The minimum requirements are listed on Microsoft's site and depend on the version you intend to purchase.

Its an operating system from Microsoft, a refinement of Windows XP, the next in the progression of Windows.
Its basically the same as XP with a few additions, a new interface on the task bar, (instead of the start button you have a windows logo).
It has a sidebar which is an innovation on which you can have the present temperature, and weather conditions for your location, a Handy calender, or clock, or even a small desktop game for when you get bored.
It comes in different levels, Home basic is the lowest, home premium, office, and the top of the range ultimate.
You will pay just under £100 for home basic to nearly £250 for Ultimate. Despite the big sell it isn't too different from XP, so its probably best to wait until you buy a new computer when you will get it bundled for free.

It's the latest operating system by Microsoft, but as others have stated, make sure it's compatible with your PC. It stores a lot of memory, but if you don't have it, and want Vista, you will need to upgrade, and if you don't know how to do it yourself, you will have to take it somewhere to be done, which will cost more in addition to paying the cost of the Vista system.

The latest operating system released by Microsoft.
It is capable of the same sorts of things as any other version of windows. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/default.mspx has more details.
The cost depends on the edition you get. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/default.mspx
It needs lots of memory. Don't even think about it if you have less then 1G of RAM. I wouldn't get it with less then 2G.
