Therein lies the crux of the matter. Were it to be made of energy it would generate a measurable output. Were it matter, it would have substance which, even if lighter than air, could act and be acted upon. All things that do not fall into either of those categories exist outside time and space in the realm of the imaginary. The concept of the soul is much like the concept of God, Fairies, and Invisible Pink Unicorns. Nice, but not real.

Fascinating to see how many believe that souls are, in fact, made of 'energy'. This is probably because many people think that 'energy' is something like this: http://www.cubicsecond.org/images/web/pasenergieexp2.jpg
IF a soul was somehow composed of energy, and was complex enough to contain within it a complete representation of a person,
o why would it not be detectable using the exquisitely sensitive transducers we have?
o what kind of energy would it be? Gravitational? Electromagnetic? Strong or Weak nuclear forces? Dark Energy? These are all the basic forms of energy that exist. If there were another with the capabilities required for souls, if would be a lot easier to spot than gravity waves. So what is it?
I must conclude that souls are made of Imagination, which is the only substance that has the described properties.

Well if there is a soul, I have a belief that its actually, physical energy. But I don't know. I've never seen one nor have i seen proof that there aren't any. So that's as far as I can go with it. There is far more to our universe than three, or even four dimensions. It is possible for the spiritual to have a concrete, representative, physical basis. But it would be too huge to see or comprehend at this point in our evolution.

There are things that are neither matter nor energy. Like the 4th dimension - 'Time'. Some scientists says that there are as many as 11 dimensions.
Matter and energy (which are interconvertible) are physical entities, at least for us. Things that can be felt. The others are non physical entities. Soul, if it exists, could be one of them.

one answer is the soul is the spiritual part of us, so it's made of spiritual stuff :-) What is that 'stuff'? One answer was Yogananda said it was made of lifetrons, but that's just another word. I think the question should be are we in touch with our soul? And if not, how do we? And once we are a little in touch with it, how do we transform our conditioning so that we shift from just musing about whether we have one or not to being that soul? (rather than the false ideas of being our thoughts and our physical body).

This may not please you, but it resonates with me. It is uncomposed, no matter or physical substance involved. It is a sign of god, a heavenly gem whose reality the most learned of men have failed to grasp, and whose mystery no mind, however acute, can ever hope to unravel. It is the first among all created things to declare the excellence of its creator, the first to recognize the glory of the creator, to cleave to its truth, and to bow down in adoration before it. If it is faithful to god, it will reflect god's light, and will, eventually return unto god. If it fails, however, in its allegiance to its creator, it will become a victim of self and passion, and will, in the end, sink in their depths.

Soul is made of Ether, which is just a subtle form of substance. All spiritual things are made of ether. Ether is condensed energy, just like matter. Its just condensed different.
From a scientific perspective, I guess you could say our "soul" is electricity about the brain. Perhaps this is our soul. It probably isnt.

I don't see the soul as a physical object made of anything, it's just a word we use to describe the non-physical aspect of humanity.
