I heard a man the other day list what he was looking for in a wife: educated, has a good job, makes good money. It sounded like he was looking for what we used to think of as a husband. You want a traditional wife, and there are many women who would be happy to stay at home with children and take care of the house, as long as it wasn't that you did nothing at all in the home. Some men tend to think of a stay at home wife as a servant who tends to their needs while they watch sports on TV. Men must still lend a helping hand in the home, and a man will only improve his life if he shares in the child rearing when he is on the scene. If you can afford to have a woman stay home, and you are willing to treat her as someone who is doing an important job then yes there are many women who would enjoy doing just that. Its not modernization, its the fact that it takes two income to live with any degree of comfort, its quite difficult for a woman to have a home and children and a full time job, but its even more difficult to be unable to afford shoes and food for those children.

Of course there are -- you just need to find them (and it won't be in the bars and clubs). I was a career woman, with two degrees, and happily became a stay-at-home mom and wife! It has been very tough at times financially, but it's been worth all the sacrifices because it's made us a happier family, and has been really beneficial to us.

There still are women out there that would not mind being home while the man works outside of the house.
