If you're asking us, perhaps you're feeling a bit of guilt over it.
Personally though, I see nothing wrong with having a drink once in awhile. However, speaking for myself here, I found that it was easier to develop an alcohol problem if I was drinking every time I had the urge to. It became so bad that I was drinking every single day, even though I only got drunk once every couple weeks or so.
These days, I refuse to drink very often. I think so far this year I have had alcohol MAYBE six times...and I haven't even gotten a buzz any of those times.
Just be very careful. What you do is between you and God, of course, and it's different for everyone. But alcohol can be VERY insidious.

'Relax' with southern comfort and a slab of beer, and you are not drunk? Denial is the beginning. you need to get to an AA meeting. FAST.
A beer after your evening meal or before you go to bed, no problemo.
But if you had an alcohol problem before, you will be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
The sin to 'us Christians', is thousands of dead on the highways every year from alcohol. Property damage. Rape. Assault.
Riddle me this, batman, why is property damage, assaults, and public disturbances higher around pubs and bars than anywhere else, especially after they close?
Yes, Jesus made wine. He drank wine. And your point is?
Jesus DID NOT GET DRUNK. So, if you want to drink, buy your beer, go home, and drink. Don't break out your windows or beat your wife.
This is why there is such a stigma against alcohol today. For every 'responsible' drinker, there are 500 who are idiots.

It wouldn't be a sin but if you haven't had alcohol for 2 years because of a drinking problem, then you should really think about just talking to your friend without the booze. You can find other ways to relax. If you are a particularly religious or spirtiual person, you can turn to God to give you the strength not to drink. He will be there for you. All you have to do is believe and ask Him to help you find a positive way to relieve your stress.

Let's just talk about the alcohol here.
It seems you're trying to excuse yourself for having it, or justify having it.
Wanting to relax is an excuse.
I know. I've heard them all, and I've used many myself.
You can choose not to drink. Or, you can choose to drink.
Either way, it is a choice.
But, if you find yourself making excuses or justifying, then you might think there's a problem.
Drinking is no sin, but letting it affect you IS.
You need also to consider the fact that the wine mentioned in the Bible was not necessarily containing alcoholic content.
Commonly people would add grape juice to water if the water was distasteful, there was also a dehydrated grape juice to add to water, or a concentrated form, usually used during travel, of course regular juice, all considered wine.

If Christians really are Christians then they will accept the way that Jesus behaved on earth as the behaviour of a perfect human, it would therefore indicate to me that if HE drank a little while on Earth, then it would be fine for Christians to drink also, of course the key is always self control and not to use that as an excuse to get drunk.
NOT CHRISTIAN MYSELF - and I do drink a little bit, not every day, but there is no harm in having a glass of wine with dinner.

I don't think it's a good idea, No good can come from alcohol. Find something else relaxing to do. Read a book. Watch a good movie. Take a hot bath. Go out to dinner with friends. Jesus only drank wine because the water then could make you sick.
It says in the Bible that "wine is a mocker and strong drink is raging and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise".

You don't need alcohol to relax. Having a drink is not a sin, but your reasons for doing so might be suspect. If you're turning to alcohol for comfort instead of God, there's a problem.

2 years? Why not aim for 32 years? Actually for me its been 16 years without a drop of alcohol. Whether its a sin to drink alcohol if you are not going to get drunk, you have to decide. This may be the first step to get you started again. Is it worth it?
Jesus never drank alcohol. Don't use God as an excuse to justify drinking alcohol. The "wine" that he drank was non alcoholic grape juice.

1st of all the bible says to work out your own soul salvation
2nd of all the bible never says that Jesus drank any wine, his first miracle was turning water into wine. Know I myself would never drink wine because the bible says that we are to present out bodies as living sacrifices holy and acceptable unto god and if you have the holy ghost he will convict you and you would not want to drink any wine. Now I'm not judging you this is just how I feel. I'm sorry that you are so stress but Jesus says to cast all of our cares upon Him because he cares for up.
