No - the law states that he must give you money for you to buy these things. If he's not giving you money then either A - he hasn't any in which case you will be given extra income from the Government (If you are on a low income), or B- he has to pay you child support and if not doing so is breaking the law and you should use your local CAB office to help you get this sorted ( a lot better than going through the CSA ( or whatever their new name is) by yourself.

Why Are You Not Paying Money?????
I don't under stand what you are asking. ? do you have to supply basic stuff for children while you have them?? What basic stuff? An absent parent should always keep up with the children. If only a phone call once a week. They should always be able to reach you if they need to. I don'[t kinow the ages of you kids. But those children love you and if you ignore that fact and simply avoid contact they will resent you in time. Their Mother is who you left not them. Don't be 100% absent. They need you no matter what. Just don't make promises you can't keep. Don't say you will if you aren't sure that you will. But do remember birthdays remember the special times make the connection and keep it. Don't be so absent they can't find you and forget who you are. that will only cause so terribly much pain and confusion for the child.

i think i understand what you are sayin - does he have to supply things to his kids even if there isn't a court order to do so. Nope, the court has to put an order into effect so he has to pay for his kids unless he is just a good parent and does support his children without a court order. Go down to the courthouse and ask them what paperwork you need to get it going, they will help you if you cant afford an attorney to do the leg work for you. You may have to go thru some extra steps if he denies being the child's father tho so keep that in mind. It is a roller coaster of crap you will have to go thru before you get any support so be ready - good luck to you!!!

it is a fathers obligation to make sure that his children are well kept and looked after!!! if the father in question does not already offer any support to his kids whether it is giving the mother money every week or so or buying nappies every once in a while, then he is not fit to even class himself as a father and does not deserve to even think about his kids!! so in answer to your question YES

Nope, not in the USA. It is up to the parent that has the children to go to Family Court and file for child support. Until you do this, he is not obligated, although morally he should.
