Wow...I just read all of your Christian answers on this question. Some of them are shocking and some I just roll my eyes at. I love the way they say people who do that aren't "true Christians" but they are the majority.
That must be a "true Christian" talking about someone deserving a bullet in their head. Way to turn the other cheek, RIF! How very Christ-like of you.

I have never hated anyone! I would never blow-up an abortion clinic! I do however let it be known that I do not like no do I agree with abortion! It is not a woman's own body! There is a precious little life that is being killed and women need to know that, that tissue is a baby! I do not think that Gay people can help being Gay, I do not bash them! I do not like sexual immorality of any kind because it go's against the teaching's of our Lord! I do not like the way people flaunt there sexual immorality, with people of the same or opposite sex! I am sorry that your friend has told you that SHE feels that you are going to Hell! Only the Father who is in Heaven can Judge you! We Love the Lord Jesus, And it was he who told us not to Judge, that it was the Father who is in Heaven who will Judge.

The "love" is just an empty "group love". It is both a generic bonding within the religious group and a watered down emotion felt towards everybody else, but nobody in particular. In other words, it is lip service.
Their claim to "love thy enemy" really only holds for as long as they think they can convert someone. Then it turns to "down throw pearls before swine" and "don the armor and sword of God" so that you can take your "eye for an eye".
Some groups are more liberal. They distance themselves more from the literal Bible stories and take a more moderate view of things. However, all generally excuse the actions of those a little more zealous than they are saying, "Yes, he's a little too much into it, but at least he's a good Christian". Those "good Christians" excuse people a little more zealous than them, until you get the cadre who is flying planes into building, blowing cars up, and sniping abortion clinic doctors. It's the whole bias towards religion that allows the fanatics to thrive in this country.

It is not just Christians like this but a lot of religions claim to be the true religion and all others are false so it is arrogance and ignorance that causes these reactions in people. I am a ROman Catholic (not really active anymore but fully indoctrinated from the 50's and 60's) and I have friends that are Protestant that bash my group all the time? It is tough to understand.

Gee, with such a name as "I will destroy you", would I be safe answering this?
Gays bash Christians all the time. Years ago there was an incident in, I believe Georgia, where a bunch of girlyboys went into a church and threw human feces all over the congregation. Any one who is that sick-minded deserves a bullet in their head. I personally hope that while in prison they get beaten and bashed off every wall in the joint.
Their "reason" for doing so was because the pastor delivered a sermon the week before against homosexuality, and the girlyboys got their panties in a bunch because of it.
And before you ask, I'd say the same thing if they were normal guys doing the same thing.

The values of the religion have changed.
Even in the beginning it wasn't a loving belief. It was MEANT to be- hell, Jesus said to love everybody- even your enemy!
The thing is, when it first got started, people were killed for not believing in it. They could be charged with heresy of the church if they practiced any other religion, and they could be killed as a 'witch' for believing something else too.
Then nowadays you have some of them saying you're going to hell, when I'm also certain that the belief itself CLEARLY states that we are not to judge others.
In general terms, it's a hypocritical, hateful, self-righteous belief full of people who think they're perfect because they can believe a fairy tale and attempt to run the world based on it.
[( However, I have met a few devout Christians who do not push their beliefs on others or judge or anything of the sort. Too bad those types aren't the majority. )]

I don't "bash" others i simply tell them what the bible (Gods Word) says about the subject. True Christians are suppose to have love and compassion for everyone, but because a few doesn't do it doesn't mean its all Christians...
I can't think of any other church in my area that agrees with what Westboro Baptist Church is doing (the one that says God hates Fags), but they still do it in a Christian name even though the Majority doesn't agree with it.
I don't believe in Homosexuality or abortion, most people on here tell me well you never been through it, but they don;t know what my family or I have been through. there are many people who had abortions and letter turned to Christ in regret, but i dont try to critisize or belittle I try to tell them what God says and then let them use their FREE WILL from there. i will not have to answer to God for them, I will have to answer for myself so therefore I will try my best to be loving and compassionate while spreading the gospel. Don't generalize because "some" do. =)
God Bless

I'm a Christian and have spent my entire life around Christians ... and I don't know a single gay basher, abortion clinic picketer/exploder, nor anyone who would tell a Jewish person they are going to hell.

The cause... is pure hipocrisy, borne of self-righteousness and hard-core fundamentalism, and the belief in a faith that in itself teaches from a book filled with too many conflicting contradictions. They use the 'good book' to justify positively anything and everything. Most religions do, and yes... even Judiasm, I'm sorry to say. No religion is without its 'faults'.
The best religion, is none at all, or one that a person custom-makes for one's own self.
Just my opinion, and my answer to your question.
Religion is a very touchy and subjective subject, I'm afraid.

well some people say they christian and don't do things that portray that, yes we are all suppose to love each other and the only person we are to hate is satan. so the Christians that are hating on others still have a long way to go, and who are we to judge them, they will learn to love everyone regardless of what they are about.
