Noone can escape from results of karmas since there is a law of karma by nature. The accumulated actions or Sanchitha karmas resulted from previous lives turn as our Prarabdha for the present life become our destiny which cannot be erased or rewritten by anybody. They are not under control of one's present life; but one can correct oneself's destiny in this life itself to certain extent if oneself is adhered to a prescribed life which will result for the next life. However, these are controlled by the order of the Supreme Lord. Karma is enert by itself. The creator who preside over the law of karma decides and distributes the results for each karma performed by oneself to oneself.

karma is the effects of causes you make, so of course you can't escape reality. If you are mean to someone today and they won't talk to you tomorrow, that's karma. If something seemingly out of the blue happens, that's an earlier karma. The only reason those out of the blue things happen is you were not paying attention to your cause at the time you made it. So the trick is to always pay attention to what you are doing and when you make a mistake, correct it in the present then there will be no ugly surprises in the future.

No one can escape karma, no matter your religious tradition. Though karma is a Hinduist/Buddhist concept, other religions such as Christianity talk about it too:
Galatians 6
7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Some times it is very easy to identify what action of yours triggered a karmatic event. However, when you analyze the situation and can't find an explanation in your past actions to a negative/painful experience, you are probably paying karma from a previous life.
In any case the important thing is to learn the lesson contained in the experience or to reap the reward (in case of good karma instances).
And yes, it is true that bad karma can be neutralized with "good" actions, but it can't be escaped.

The action-reaction law does operate, but escape, I would say partially yes, because, escape the results also includes "ability" to easily sustain the results, reduce the impact on us etc... Karma (deed) is just karma, neither good or bad, .. it is we who classify it as good or bad in relative terms within our limited 'logical' mind.
To know if a karma is new or effect of an earlier one, a person has to develop a keen sense of 'self-observation' and deepen the perception way beyond sensory levels (because the 'logical' aspect of mind pegs our perception at this level, and does not allow perception to percolate beyond it). It seems mystical because, it is the higher level capability of our intuitional aspect, which does not conform to logic at all !

No. According to hindu mythology No one can escape for what karmas he has done. One good karma does not neutralize a bad karma. Karma is not mathametics where 1 minus 1 is 0. You will be punished for all the misdeeds and you will be rewarded for the good deeds you do.

you can not escape karma, there is no escape from the past. The effects of your bad deeds in previous incarnations will manifest themselves in your present life, and the deeds of this life (good and and bad) will manifest themselves in your future incarnations. There is, however a way to minimize the effects of bad karma in your future incarnations, and that is through kindness, compassion and good deeds.
Compassion and kindness are the great neutralizers of bad karma...
If you do not follow the path of compassion and kindness you will become an insomniac and you will be condemned to roam the dark corridors of YA forever... ;P

Many fine answers already given.
In short you cannot escape the consequences of your actions, either thoughts, words or deeds. The consequences, however are not set in stone so to speak and can be unpredictable.
It is not necessary to know how the consequences are derived or which consequence we are dealing with, it is only necessary to act so that only positive consequences occur.
How then do we determine if our actions will result in positive consequences...? We determine this by our intent and our motivations. If our intent is selfish or our motivations are selfish, then the consequences will be as a result of the "self" which arose in the consciousness to cause these selfish actions. The Lord Buddha always warns us in the Suttas..."When "Self" arises in the consciousness, suffering soon follows".
We must therefore try to ensure that our motivations and our intentions are not selfish and are not guided by selfishness. This will ensure that the consequences of our actions will be positive, therefore resulting in Positive Karma.
I hope this helps you to understand Karma a little better...
Peace from a Buddhist....

Namaste Anil ji.THE ANSWER IS KARMA YOGA. To escape deeds and thier results and be freed from them and the process of rebirth lord Krishna says-"do the karma, surrender them to God and dont desire or care about the fruit of your deeds"
-"a saint/karma yogi has no benefit for good karma and no punishment for the bad because he is free of ahamkaara(ego)"
-"dedicate your karmas to me if you want to be jeevan mukta"
-"the good deeds are shackles of gold, the bad deed are shackles of iron so its best to give up both"
so karma is to be done as a duty for God has assigned it to us and to be freed of the karma and thier results is possible only if you surrendeer to God and leave the ego that I am the doer. One has to think that its the body, senses, mind and intellect which are doing the karma and not me(the soul). This way one can be liberated from bondage of karma and be fred from the cycle of birth and death.
as for the second part of your question I have no scriptural reference but as per my experience you cant always know but only sometimes through your intution or else your viveka or wisdom. Its understood that the karmas have been there that are giving you these results.eg-:
1)I have not cheated anyone in this life so if I am being cheated for no fault of mine at all it must be because of some karma of previous birth.
2)I erred and did this sin a few months back and now the instant or logical results point out to the fact that this is the reason. the wrong action or decesion had to have wrong results
Astrology can provide answers to our queries if the astrologer is highly learned and also honest.
I have heard from many people that Brahm Samhita written by Maharishi Bhrigu has helped them. It has all accounts of the previous, present and future lives of all people. It can help analyse which karma has led to what result and how to counter act thier results. Our destiny is in our hands acually God just gives us the results of our karma and plans as to when and how we have to recieve them.

You can escape your karma!
When considering anything in your life ask how much truth is in it! If is contains very little truth then discard it until all that is in your life is truth and trust me escaping your karma is just one of the things you will achieve because you will....

Take the analogy of water/salt for wholesome/unwholesome kamma respectively.
1.If a person performed 100 unwholesome deeds and 0 wholesome deed, when the kamma ripened, life will be unbearable.
2.If a person performed 50 wholesome and 50 unwholesome deeds, when the kamma ripened, life would be bearable.
3.If a person performed 90 wholesome deeds and 10 unwholesome deeds, when the kamma ripened, life will be wonderful.
Hope this helps .
