Cousinly relationships are based on the generations back you are related. If you share the same grandparents, then you are first cousins; if you share the same great grandparents, then you are second cousins; and so on. The idea of being cousins "removed" is how many generations apart you are. For example, Fred's great grandparents are Rachel and Rob, and they are also Sally's great-great-great grandparents. This means that Fred is the second cousin twice removed of Sally because they share Fred's great-grandparents and are two generations apart. In short, you are friends with your second cousin, you are her daughter's second cousin once removed, and your children are the third cousins of your second cousin's children.

A system of degrees and removes is used to describe the relationship between the two cousins and the ancestor they have in common. The degree (first, second, third cousin, etc.) indicates the minimum number of generations separating either of the cousins from the common ancestor; the remove (once removed, twice removed, etc.) indicates the number of generations, if any, separating the two cousins from each other.
In this system, the child of one's aunt or uncle is one's first cousin. The child of one's first cousin is one's first cousin once removed.

Your second cousin is your mom or dad's first cousin.
Your second cousin once removed is your second cousin's child.

Your cousin's child is your second cousin.
Thus, your second cousin's child is either your third cousin, or your second cousin once removed, depending on your terminology.

OK.
Your uncle's kids would be first cousins to you.
If your first cousin has a kid, they would be first cousins, once removed.
If you have a kid, your kid would be your cousin's kid's 2nd cousin.
If your cousin's kid has a kid, then your kid and your cousin's kid's kid would be 2nd cousins once removed.

My second cousin would be my cousins child. Not sure about the once removed but I think (could be wrong) its has something to do with the other "side" of the family eg. my mums sisters husbands brothers children would be once removed!
