Birds come back to the same place/their nest after flying miles around the whole day.

yes, many birds come back to the same territory year after year...not necessarily the same nest. It is thought that birds migrate by a combination of factors..some is just instinct, some is learned from parents and other birds, while they also use the earths magenetic poles and the stars to navigate.

Many birds migrate thousands of miles/year. It is still a mystery of how they do this.
